I've been doing business with BB&T for many years and have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested with them. But when it came to getting a new home loan, OMG the ringer they put me through! The guy we worked with was terse, unhelpful, and acted like he could care less. He kept asking for the same documents over and over. Even after sending some 3 times, then he came back and said his Adobe reading could open them even though mine could just fine. Then I started getting emails from his assistant asking for documents he's already confirmed he had. I think it's a circus at BB&T, at least right now.So guess who's taking their business elsewhere, banking and investments!

This bank charges a 8$ fee to cash a check written on their check and sadly it was a payroll check. I will never open or even consider openinga account with them!!

I have done business with many banks. Before BB&T I was with Citibank. Before Citibank I was with Comerica, who bought out NorthPark Bank, and the old Republic National Bank. Comerica was the least professional of them all, no customer loyalty, and a philosophy of "the customer is always wrong", which is why I moved to Citibank. I was happy there until they sold all of their Texas branches to BB&T. I was reluctant at first to stay at BB&T because I had never heard of them, but I thought I would give them a try. Since then, I have found them to be very professional and accommodating to everything and anything I need. They are quick to respond, happily refund fees when I objected, and otherwise seem to place a high value on customer loyalty. It has so far been a pleasure.

Broken Chain in Management Sorry to say that I have ended any relationship with this bank after a truly botched attempt at a refi on my home. BB&T already had the HELOC loan, so you would think this would have been easy--not so! I was continually asked for more information, then to pay more on homeowners insurance, then to pay more on flood insurance-ok, ok, and ok!! I did it all. This was all stretched out over a period of months--not weeks--months! Day before closing I received papers saying they were now going to escrow flood insurance. I had just paid a year + and now this? The day before? I received a call from the loan manager, and I still have the recording, saying he was sorry it had been such a mess and he would not blame me for going somewhere else. Further, he would refund any fees I had paid. That was more than a month ago. I did go someplace else. They did complete my loan is less than one month. And I have NOT received a check from BB&T for fees I paid. Will NEVER do business with them again. And it's too bad, because I really liked the young man.

So far 10 days and still haven't received my debit card. Can't withdraw the money needed to pay my bills because of the withdraw limit. Website says they are open when they aren't because no one updated their website. On Google it has many branch locations that stated 24 hours a day but they aren't of course and their ATM FOR THE SITE IS INSIDE THE BUILDING WITH NO ACCESS. will be closing my account tomorrow.
