God brought me to LHBC in a time of sorrow and loneliness, knowing that the amazing community and love that this church so beautifully shares would help heal my soul. LHBC has become my home and I’ve met so many amazing people with different backgrounds and stories. I’ve been a member for 2 years now and absolutely LOVE every moment I spend with this body of believers. Whether it’s on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, or the hangouts in between, I just can’t get enough of the love and conversations we share. ❤️

LHBC is one of the most welcoming church communities I have ever been blessed to be apart of. They strive for every aspect of worship to be done as a community, & always highlight the clear lines to Christ that run through all of scripture. I’m so grateful for the staff & all they do for the congregation.

Last year my wife (who was expecting) and I moved from out-of-state to Dallas - after being members at another tremendous and healthy elder-led church. We visited a number of large Baptist "lite" / heritage or non-denominational churches in Dallas, but struggled to find a church where we could quickly form community. The churches we visited required either becoming a member before joining a community group (CG) or CGs were just full.We live nearby and had completely missed this church. Yet, after a recommendation from a family member, we visited. On the first Sunday we immediately met the pastor, many friendly people, and later had three invitations to join for lunch. The friendliness and hospitality of the church was overwhelming. We loved/love the Sunday preaching, Wednesday evening dinner fellowship and teaching in the chapel, and even the Sunday evening prayer meeting (when we can make it).The Sr. Pastor Bill Watson is a tremendous biblical / Greek scholar and teacher yet humble shepherd, which is rare to find in a pastor. He was previously a professor at Criswell College and is in his late-30s.The church sanctuary is historic. There are beautiful stain glass windows throughout and large chandeliers. Yet the people and worship style are casual and down-to-earth.We've since become members and have become friends with many in the church. It's very easy to get to know almost everyone.Helpful things to note:- This is a multi-generational church. There are college students (mostly from Criswell College or DTS), young families, empty nesters, and retirees. Most people we've met live within 20-30 min.- The worship style consists of hymns or modern hymns played with simple acoustic guitar and occasional piano or violin accompaniment. The service follows a liturgy.- Small groups are on Sunday morning before the service starts and are typically broken into age groups (e.g. babies, children, teens, college students, adults, and sr. adults)- The church does "Family Worship" every Sunday - meaning children over 5-6 are in the service with their parents worshipping together- The church will never grow above a certain size before the church leaders will plant another church, which is unusual and refreshing in the day of the megachurch.

Lake Highlands is what has truly made Dallas feel like home! My husband and I have been members of LHBC for 2 1/2 years. LHBC won our hearts by focusing on the ordinary means of grace (Scripture, Prayer, Fellowship) and by being a hospitable congregation. We have felt so loved and know at LHBC. The Lord has used LHBC to grow my understanding of the word by blessing this church with so many amazing Teachers/Preachers.

Lake Highlands Baptist Church is such a blessing to me.When I first started going to Criswell College, so many people told me all about it, and I just thought “there’s no way the church is that great.” One of my mentors knew the church and some of our pastors and told me I needed to check it out, so I took it seriously.I started listening to the amazing preaching on the podcast, and I first visited on a Wednesday night for the fellowship meal. I met one of our pastors Tom Wakefield right when I walked in the door, and I knew I was home.I definitely could not have imagined a better church family, from the way we disciple our children to the way we care for one another in hospitality, pastoral care, and so many other amazing things. I’m glad to have a mixed service that incorporates hymns and not just a bunch of contemporary songs only, a church that prioritizes prayer, and a respectful reverence for worshipping the Lord.I thank God and pray for our church often, and am so grateful to be a part of it.
