Cedrik became super aggressive and rude when I told him I don’t want to become a member, and just kept on trying to sell me after I repeatedly told him no. This guy should be fired immediately, what a traumatizing experience. Cedrik, please get some help.

Simply from the customer service alone, Rich was very helpful when it came to finding the right running shoe for me. It helped to know about his running experience and knowledge of multiple shoes, so his suggestion was easier to accept and give a try. I also heard how he socialized with other customers, and was down-to-earth. I definitely recommend coming to this place and having a conversation with Rich about the right shoe to wear!

Horrific customer service. Management should be written up, dismissed, and all employees should be discharged for their lazyness. When a line is 30 people deep, and I'm told to wait in that line to do a return, there are 3 things wrong with that employee.
1. I already waited in line to buy the items I want to return when I initially bought them.
2. Putting me in line means you're putting me ahead of paying customers.
3. Telling me your cash register at the end of the cash wrap is not for transactions is a lie - don't lie to your customers because you don't want to do any work, and don't lie to your customer because you have decided that the rule is to wait in line when the sign above your head says online orders. You're not doing anything, you slacker. I've been a co-op member since 1997. REI has gone to waste, catering to conformity, while espousing the ideals of FREEDOM outside. The irony. Maybe your C-Suite would like a full report from me? Maybe you were just targeted by a mystery shopper? Maybe you need to do better, since customer service is your job, and you are standing at a register DOING NOTHING. We are all watching you do nothing while we are waiting. Horrible and pathetic work ethic. 1 star is hlthe lowest, but I'd give a negative 5 because I want my wasted time back.

They need learn how to allocate their staff appropriately depending on the demands of sections of the store. Plenty of staff walking around but not enough for the busiest area (shoes).
Ended up leaving because we waited too long without any assistance. Going to end up buying online instead, from a different store.

Update 8/23/24: We went back today to look for more items and Kenneth was at the register. He remembered us and even some things we talked about 4 months ago when we were last here. I was really pleasantly surprised and happy to see him again. What a great store and great people working here. It was great to see you again Kenneth! We will be back soon!
Kenneth helped us pick up our roof rack for our kayak. While we were there we saw another kayak on clearance and Noah helped us put on the roof rack and load it up. They were both so awesome and we really enjoyed shopping here and the top notch customer service! I went inside to fill the postcard on Kenneth & Noah and got to interact with Rai who was also very sweet and helpful. We loved the customer service and everything far exceeded our expectations. We would drive to Dallas again to shop when a need arises. Thank you so much for all the help!!

Everytime I visit your location at 5929 E. Nortwest Highway in Dallas for a problem related to my bicycle. I have the distinct pleasure of interacting with your wonderfully attentive, and knowledgeable staff. In particular the manager, and lead technician of that department Rae Cook. She always goes above, and beyond what's expected as it not only pertains to me but with everyone she encounters. What an absolutely fantastic feeling it is knowing that regardless of the repairs final cost. I'm going to have a great customer experience because of her, and all who work under the guidance she provides.

Oh my gosh! If I could leave 10 stars I would! I came in on a whim because of an upsetting experience at a local tech store when trying to buy a new fitness watch. I go onto Google, search around, and REI pops up.
Immediately, upset and frustrated, I come walking in the door asking for help from anyone. Immediately someone comes to help me, reassures me that I’m in the right place, and shows me around the store fitness tech. The sigh of relief to have actual good customer service was just so refreshing and why I recommended this REI to my friends looking for a new place to get their gear.
If you’re ever in the market for a great person to tell you about the Garmin watches and give you the best customer service experience, Vashti is your person!
Explaining my situation, I told her about my needs and she debated with me on which watch would best fit my lifestyle and budget. After a little over a month, I can confirm she did amazing at matching me with my forever favorite watch and Garmin product.
Even walking me to the register, she made my experience at REI both memorable and truly the reason why even a month later, her assistance was so noteworthy of a review.
1000/10 stars!

Got into the side of the mountain only to find that this expensive tent that I had purchased, brand new, was in fact used, and broken to the point of uselessness and that I was forced to sleep out in the open on the ground. Ruining my entire weekend and embarrassing me and my family infront of my friends. No, quality control whatsoever.

Brough bike wheels to fix the issue. Got message that order id ready. Came to pickup at 8.20, section is closed. Nobody isnable to help( "not trained in that section"). Message doesn't specify until when the bycicle section works. Nobody tried to help, everyone were not interested in me so much they even didnt say when that section os open next day or mb other days. Awful feeling. 50 min of life wasted. I will probably never comeback in thw store.

Always great staff, well versed in outdoors gear. We've bought everything from snowboarding equipment to rock climbing gear here and because we're members, we always save at least 10%. I always check out their used gear collection because sometimes you stumble across an amazing deal. I got a barely used Osprey full backpack that usually retails in the $250 range for $55. I've also gotten barely used climbing shoes for 75% off. Check the used bins first.
