Southern Skates Roller Rink is a friendly and fun place, described as the best and most underrated skating rink in the area where people can feel at home. Kids love it and it is not expensive at all. The staff is very friendly. It offers Thursday adult nights, Friday nights for teens, and family skate on Sundays. Many find it a good time with nice people and great music, though some note the music can be very hard core rap. The rink is pretty dark inside. A significant concern is operational inconsistency; hours can be unreliable, with instances of early closings or unexpected closures, so calling ahead is suggested. There are also ongoing issues with amenities; the rink has had no concessions for over a year and sometimes lacks available pipe trainers for beginner kids. While many enjoy their visit, some feel the experience can be cut short or hindered by these operational challenges.
