Fantastic museum. The exhibit contained a lot of interesting facts and highlighted things I’ve never seen a museum do before. For example, they had 3 items on display from WW2 and explained the legal distinction on how these items were obtained. Most museums will just display the items but not given any insight behind how they were obtained

HOW UNACCEPTABLE. Plans and reservations were set WELL IN ADVANCE WITH INVITES to our friends retirement ceremony and the FACILITY LAST MINUTE CANCELLED HER CEREMONY WITHOUT PERMISSION to accommodate a higher ranking officer. UNSAT AND UNPROFESSIONAL I don't care who you are this is absolutely shameful.

Do NOT Book an event here! Unacceptable customer service. A friend had a confirmed reservation for her retirement ceremony here and spread the word about the date. It was planned well in advance, but the venue cancelled the reservation so a General could use the space instead. They also have out her contact information. Completely unacceptable!

Horrible! A friend made a reservation for her well-deserved military retirement ceremony here and the venue confirmed her reservation and she spread the word about the ceremony. Only for the venue to give out her personal contact information without her permission so she could be called and harassed about changing her date because - why? Oh, a general wanted to have their retirement ceremony on that date. Then the museum just cancelled her reservation! I’m so embarrassed for this general, I don’t care what my rank is when I retire, over my dead body will I kick another deserving service member out of their own retirement ceremony! The people who handled this should be ashamed of themselves.

Great quiet and casual place to go and experience nature. They have many types of geese and a beautiful pond area. They also have several deer that roam the grounds and several peacocks. You can bring bird seed, or other healthy bird snacks, but don’t bring dangerous food like bread and crackers for the water fowl. I didn’t see anyone feeding the deer so I don’t know what is permitted there.Saw many families and a wide variety of ages. There was even a family sitting on the grass with a large blanket, it looked peaceful. I remember coming here as a child and loving it, it’s still a nice place to go, many years later.

Very enjoyable experience. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The museum was larger than I expected and has a lot of fascinating items and information. We didn't give ourselves enough time to finish, so that's a good reason to return. In addition to the history of Fort Sam Houston, it's good for those interested in other early Texas forts, and the development of Texas and San Antonio. I learned, for example, about Camp John Wise, a US Army Balloon Corps base in WWI, that was right down the street from where I live in SA. The Quadrangle itself is also nice, with peacocks roaming around, a beautiful historic oak, the tower, etc. Entrance is free but non-military need to get a pass at the main Visitors Center near I-35 and Walters St., so allow time for that.

Very Informative. Enjoyed the History. It’s on a Military Base so if you have a Military ID, it’s easier to get into.

I took my brother to our surprise when we entered the Quadangle , there was a koi pond. And free roaming peacock and geese. We are both veterans so we went inside the museumTo see the old equipment we use to repair and drive, on the way out we ran into roaming deer.A very nice place to visit.and it’s free for now

Very nice historic place in the heart of San Antonio. Geronimo and his followers were held there for a while, while his fate was decided and he was eventually sent to federal prison in Florida. There are deer and peacocks walking around. Maybe one day I'll meet LTG Laura Richardson. She's a legend in the Army. That Quad is free.

Very picturesque historical site. Second most historical site in Texas after the Alamo. The Quad has animals, a museum and boasts a large number of ceremonies. Worth the visit.

The museum is inside a military base. The admission is free but you need to get a permit from the visitor center first, which is a few miles away. To get the permission is easy, driver licenses and car insurance are required. There is no clear sign where the museum is although it is very close to the entrance. The museum has some old weapons and explains the history of this place. Outside the building, there are fears and peacocks.

Unique place, unique history, Geronimo was imprisoned there in 1886 before being sent to OK, nowadays one can see peacocks and deer inside the quadrangle while Fort Sam Houston crumbles into oblivion....

Visited the Fort Sam Houston Quadrangle and the Museum on 11/26. It was an enjoyable experience, our kids loved it. Peacocks and ducks in the park create a serene environment that you would enjoy all day long. You can bring food for them, but no bread or popcorns.... :)The only inconvenience is that the general public with no military ID require a visitor's pass which can only be acquired, for free, from the SAMMC Visitor Center, San Antonio, TX 78219 which is like 4 miles from the museum. Nonetheless, it was worth it!When you go to the Visitor Center to get a pass, take a pic of your car's registration (for TX), car insurance, and state issued IDs for all 18+ folks in the group.

I had heard there were peacocks at the quad, but was not sure what people meant by that. I was not expecting this beautiful quad with free roaming peacocks all around. There were also some small deer ? on the property. There is a quarter feed bird feed dispenser on site for the peacocks too. What an unexpected experience.
