Fine experience. Rooms are old but serviceable. Staff are absolutely excellent, will go the extra mile. Convenient location for military. Not sure if price keeps up with other budget hotels in the civilian space with breakfast and other amenities. Food is fine, standard DFAC quality.

Came here for a niece graduation. It was convenient because she was in the same building.Very old building, which I believe are old barracks.During my time here there were a ton of ants. They had signs they were going to spray. Thank goodness I left before then, but my niece and others still had the issue. Ants were in the bathroom, bed, kitchen area, everywhere. There is no stove top. Only a fridge and microwave. I wish more was provided for these young professionals becoming officers. It feels like a dorm room. Breakfast is a typical continental breakfast, some days had more than others, pending how many ppl were there. Front desk staff almost always greeted incoming and outgoing people, which was nice. Housekeeping was iffy, on my floor housekeeping provided me w fresh towels and made the bed almost everyday. My niece who was on another floor said she only had one deep cleaning and nothing else. I honestly thought with the ants and these military members going in the fields and tracking so much dirt, they would tidy up everyday to ensure no infestation. If I was to come back for an event, I would go up the hill to the Candlewood which has a kitchen and is alot nicer (as per my niece and comrades). Also, doors may be loud. I had a hard time staying asleep when I was there.Bonus star for being dog friendly!

Old building. Hotel had ants in the bathroom and wasps near the stairs. AC works but not very well. Room air quality is so bad I brought an air purifier into the room.

My room had bugs in it every night. At one point I had to request a vacuum to clean up dozens of little bugs. I also developed a cough when staying in the room - when I left to Camp Bullis the cough went away, once I was back in the room the cough returned. It makes me think there may be a mold issue. The staff were very nice, breakfasts were fantastic, and the furniture in the room was great. Just might need to do some work on the window seals and check for mold. In its current state I would not recommend to a friend due to my lingering cough and the vast amount of bugs I had to kill each night (see photo).

House keeping is so out-standing, I had to write a review. I was here for months for military courses and the house-keeping staff tended to every detail (towels, bed sheets, trash, etc) every day.Everyone who works here is courteous and professional, as if they themselves were military members. Well done

Old hotel that's minimally changed since I last visited 12 years ago for OBC, just as others said. More importantly however, THE COFFEE IS TOO STRONG. Consistently. Seriously, this stuff is like rocket fuel, but without the pleasant taste. They should provide complimentary bottles of antacid with each cup. Also there's a TMC a mile or so down the road (but remember this is walking campus) if you need help with any heart palpitations you may develop after your first cup-o-joe.Let's be honest. You're not here by choice, nor are you staying at this building because it's recommended. You'd rather be at 592 or the Candlewood, but you've had no such luck. Overall, staff are friendly, breakfast is ok, the hotel shuttle works weekdays, but that's it. There's nothing going for this hotel. Just don't say I didn't warn you about the coffee. It's not for the faint of heart, or anyone with a functioning palate.Noteworthy details: Social with free food put on by staff every Thursday evening. Laundry machines available for free on each floor. Fitness center on 2nd floor. Grills and gazebo in back. Plenty of parking.

I've stayed here for weeks to months at a time for military schools. The house-keeping staff is excellent. They carefully tend to everything on a daily basis; including, towels, bed sheets, kitchen supplies, vacuuming, etc. Their attention to detail is what I'd expect from a nicer off-post civilian hotel rather than standardized on-post housing.

Room is well furnished and comfortable. House-keeping staff are excellent and consistent, tending to everything daily (bed sheets, blankets, towels, trash, vacuuming, etc). House-keeping tended to things with the care that you'd expect at a nicer off-post civilian hotel. All employees are courteous and professional to the degree that you'd think they were officers themselves.

Excellent facilities for the price. Room was clean, front desk staff were friendly and professional. Nice selection for breakfast. My only gripe is the shower head is designed for people 3.5ft or shorter, but otherwise no complaints. I'm 5'7 and had to duck under the shower head to bathe. This hotel is close to 68W buildings for graduations, and just across the street from the small exchange. Everything is within walking distance. I'd 100% stay here again next time I'm on JBSA.Walkability: Within 15 minutes of almost everything you need on post. Sidewalks are abundant around the hotel.

It's like an airforce barracks. You have your own room but it looks like it was cleaned by a 2 year old. Sinks were flooding with a black fluid...ACs were breaking down...the walls are so thin you can hear the sneeze of someone in the room next to you.

Theresa, Ilsa, Daisy, and Chris are all the best at taking care of and addressing the needs of the guests. You'll be glad you stayed at the Candlewood or any IHG hotel located on Fort Sam Houston.

Its an alright hotel, the staff is typically nice and does a good job. The building is just old and has become head quarters to the ants. You can not leave anything out with any kind of sugar or food because you will be fighting a battle that you can't win no matter how much training they give you.
