The truck return after hours is a bit too long for me, other than that great service

This place is garbage. Homeless people live in these storage units. They come and go as they please. I’ve seen them personally. The lift is always broken but they bill me $200 a month for a 2nd floor, 300 sqft unit that I can’t access because the lift is always broken! Make that 150sqft if you’re not stacking your things 10ft high. On several occasions I’ve fixed the lift myself just to get to my stuff (camping gear) but sometimes I can’t get to my things at all! This place is always dirty and it’s not safe to come here after dark because like I mentioned, there’s people living here.

I've rented a unit here for over a year now, and just moved out yesterday. At first, this was a great spot for me. I had a drive up outdoor unit and the property is not gated, so my unit was accessible 24 hours a day, which suited me perfectly. The staff has always been really great- kind, and helpful, and the place has always been clean. I've never had an issue with my unit as far as break is, weather damage, rodents, bugs or otherwise. I have, for the most part, been satisfied with storing a chunk of my life here. However, recently things have changed. They have implemented motion alarms on all the doors which requires the renter to input a code on one keypad to "check in" and again on a second pad to open the building door (which I don't need but still have to do) in order to "unlock" your unit. When you are leaving, you have to go and punch in again to "check out" or risk losing access the following day. Along with this change came the removal of my access, because I can't "check in" after hours and therefore can't open my door without an alarm blasting through the neighborhood. I *am* appreciative of the extra security measures, don't get me wrong, but this is so absurd and a total deal breaker for me. The biggest insult was that I came to find out this information only after having set off the alarm (mid-day, mind you), because they hadn't even bothered to notify the tenants of the new procedure. Staff onsite claims that emails were sent out, but I can assure you, dear reader, that I never received one.
To add to my frustration, my door has very obviously been broken into before and somewhat poorly "fixed" making it extremely difficult to open, and even harder to close, which seemed a minor nuisance at first, but combined with this alarm business, loss of access, and pricing that I've come to find out is almost 2.5x higher than some competitors, was more than enough for me to pull the trigger and get the hell outta Dodge.
P.S. AITA for renting a truck from a different store to move out of this one with? >.<
P.P.S. For the curious, my 10x15 at this property pulled a cool $216 out of account every month, where as my new spot (coming in at 50sqft larger as a 15x15, which is both gated AND 24/7 accessible, with the added bonus of *gasp* - a lightbulb *inside* the unit) is going to receive $84 of my hard earned money instead.

They have only 1 person with the IQ level to operate the propane fill station. Good luck with your propane needs as this persons schedule does not align with the business hours of operations.

They wanted to blame me for a crash from a truck I rented. Check carefully before renting if the unit you are renting does not have a dent or something like that because if not, whoever will be blamed. That's not right

Showed up to pick up rental and had so many issues. Once I got in the truck I realized the tail light was out. Decided to drive it anyways because the process of getting it was so complicated. Will definitely use a different location next time

Showed up to my reservation early just to find out their system is down and there is nothing they can do but wait. What was the point on the reservation. Lame

This location is the most unprofessional, unproductive, lazy, and careless uhaul I have ever had the displeasure of renting from. To start, the truck I picked up had LESS than a quarter of a tank of gas which just makes no sense to me but whatever I was cool with getting gas. Then I get all the way to my location 25 minutes away and they did not give me a key to the gate lock, so now I can’t even load my stuff because I can’t open the gate. So we end up having to go to TWO different uhaul locations (Oh and the JS mini mart uhaul on Jim miller, I’m coming for you next) in order to get the key to the back. So at this point my reservation is being prolonged and I’m using more time, gas and miles than I had planned on. Not only that, but now I’m in traffic, I’ve had to provide extra compensation for my movers, it was just a bigger inconvenience than it ever had to be. The worst part is that I was ASSURED by management, TOYA and RICHARD that this would be taken care of for me. Not only have I not heard from ANYONE but my account has been charged an amount I never expected to pay after TOYA explicitly told me that the amount would be adjusted. As someone who works in customer service, the lack thereof at this store is truly abhorrent to me, I would feel much better had someone even tried to reach out and let me know next steps. Moral of the story is I would sweep every grain of sand off the beach with my eyelashes before I ever, EVER rent from this location again.
