Very neat old art deco style airport terminal. Staff were very knowledgeable about the terminal and the restoration done to it. If you are in the area and like aviation you should check it out!

I cannot say enough good things about the 1940 Air Terminal Museum as our wedding venue. From the very beginning working with their event manager was easy. Their pricing was competitive and they included a lot of items that would have been extra at other venues, not to mention the fact that the money spent was actually going back into supporting the venue and the Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society!
The space itself is so beautiful, fun, and unique that it barely required any decor. The museum exhibits, airplanes, and runway right outside the door provided tons of activities for the guests to enjoy during cocktail hour and throughout the evening. I could go on and on but do yourself a favor, if you are considering them as a venue contact Juan and drop by the museum one day and I am sure you will fall in love with it like we did!

A LOT of history in a little small building about the start of aviation in Houston!!!! So much HISTORY here, from being just a small hub to being one of two bases for the WASP program for WWII and a fighter training base, to watching Houston "grow up" and become an international flight hub and destination.
Its on $10 for entrance, free for military and veterans, and make sure you leave a donation at the door, it is run on donations and a small non-profit organization.

Wonderful experience at Air Terminal Museum
My children and I attended the OPEN RAMP event. We really like everything about aviation and knowing what aviation was like in the past was something incredible, plus there are many photos and things we had never seen before! If you have the opportunity to visit the museum, do so and sow the seeds of aviation in the children the future pilots and flight attendants.

Spent an afternoon here and had the best time! We were looking for things to do in the area and spotted this museum. The people working there were incredibly accommodating hosts. They personally showed us around, shared fascinating details about the acquisition of the building, and were simply lovely people to meet. The museum itself is so well curated and designed. I love commercial art advertising, and mid-century history, so even if you aren't the biggest huge aviation fan there is plenty to see and enjoy. I loved seeing the evolution of air steward attire over the decades, different airline art, brand design evolution and how each airline has evolved over the decades. And of course we got to get up close to an actual lockheed aircraft, which was spectacular. Wonderful museum!

1940 Air Terminal Museum located near Hobby Airport, is housed in an original art deco building that served as Houston’s first purpose-built passenger flight terminal. The first floor is filled with fascinating documentation and memorabilia from the period, including flight attendant outfits. It’s like stepping back in time! Being able to watch planes take off and land right in front of you is another great experience!
The museum staff’s kindness and knowledge truly enhance the visitor experience. ? Our family absolutely loved the museum and will be coming back! Thank you!!

Absolutely loved this museum. An art deco style old airport terminal. They have a lot of old artifacts and even photos of celebrities who used the terminal back in the day. It's truly stunning. Loved getting to go tour the couple of planes they had out back as well and see the planes take off and land in the active runways from the airport behind it. What a beautiful, well preserved piece of history. Definitely recommend checking out.

I attended a wedding at this hidden gem. It was simple, but very decorative. Everyone’s attire blended in well with the 1940 theme. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They served us hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a great meal. There was a group of dancers dressed in 40s’ attire, that entertained us outside while we waited for the reception to set up. Also there was a photographer inside taking black & white photos with props included. That was fun!

The 1940 Air Terminal Museum was a great wedding venue for our group of about 100 people. So many people both from Houston and out of state loved the museum, and despite the colder weather almost everyone went out into the historic airplane (and loved it)! There was almost always someone wandering the exhibits, so there was plenty to look at and talk about for the folks that didn’t want to dance. Juan was so easy to work with and really helped us use the space in the best way possible. Also, we were close enough to the hotels around Hobby that their shuttle service would bring people to and from the venue, which was nice for the out of state people. Overall a unique venue that was convenient, super interesting, and easy to work with!

The most stunning venue for a wedding and awesome exhibits for the day to day plane/airport history enthusiast. Outstanding establishment and staff.

One of the best kept secrets in Houston - great event venue and valuable piece of history. This museum is located near William Hobby Airport and is a short drive from there. It has a plane in the parking lot out front, but the Air Terminal has three stories. Only the first story is open, which has exhibits on the historic airlines (many which did not make it) that called Hobby home. There is also a small space exhibit which shows off Houston as Space City.If you get a chance, go take a look at the annex which includes a trainer, a helicopter and another airplane. They often wait for larger groups to take the walk over there. Sometimes if you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of the Houston Rockets private plane.Great for aviation lovers. It is also a beautiful event venue that gives a nice historical flair. Used a Groupon to get a good deal. They have wonderful volunteers that are highly knowledgeable. If they had more funds, they could finish renovating the second floor, which has a great view of the runways.
