The ladies who run the store always working hard for new students and artists in the Houston Area community. I appreciate every semester they seem to have pretty affordable prices. The quality of the charcoal, paper and other materials helped me out.

Awesome art store! They have a good selection of products for all kinds of art mediums and projects and the staff is very kind, helpful , and knowledgeable. Keep an eye out for their $5 mystery bags! I got two and got a whole bunch of neat stuff in there valued at way more than $5 from each bag.

Very willing to answer questions and there are examples of how to use various products. The grab bags are full of a lot of goodies. I was painting major and recently changed to graphic design, so I wasn’t familar with most of my art supplies which was a bit stressful for me. I came in yesterday and was completely surprised by how amazing the hospitality and service I’ve received. The owner was knowledgable and very helpful with my supply shopping. She’s a great storyteller and a lovely person. You don’t get this kind of service anywhere, and it was a great way to end my day.

I have known the owners Vicki and Ben for decades, and as a painter I cannot think of anyone in Houston who knows more about art supplies than Vicki. They maintain a wonderful inventory of oil paints, acrylic paints, watercolors, drawing materials, papers, brushes, canvas, and more. They offer extensive discounts to students from the University of Houston, St Thomas, and the Glassell School at the Museum of Fine Arts. Far and away the best place to purchase art supplies in Houston.

Recently went in and felt like I was being watched. I was asked if I needed help and responded that I just wanted to look around to see what they had, outside of maybe a sketch pad, I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for in particular. The attendant let me know about the items on sale which was great. I proceeded to browse the store, actually looking for some sketch pads or something similar, but open to anything else I might find for a personal project. As I proceeded to browse, every time I looked over my shoulder, the attendant was standing there watching me. I thought it was strange, but at the same time, not really, considering all things. I proceeded to move toward the paints in the back and now she was at the table "straightening" up a few things. Well, by this time, I for sure knew what was happening and decided to exit the store and head to another art supply for what I needed.Needless to say, I will not be patronizing this business again and won't recommend it to anyone either. It's always interesting to me, when you find businesses that move into a majority minority (or what used to be majority) neighborhood and then act like you're surprised/afraid when we enter the store.Art Supply on Almeda....I need you to be do better! I'm not sure if the lady was the owner or just a salesperson, but I recommend investing in some customer service and diversity training and most of all A HEART CHECK!

Absolutely lovely, I went here to grab some lithography paper and was delighted to find someone that finally knew what lithography was and knew a lot about the paper itself. There were so many things jam packed into such a small location in a really nice and orderly way. They have everything you could possibly want or need and because they do sales so often you're probably going to get it cheaper than from Jerry's Artarama or anywhere else. I can't wait for a reason to come back and buy more art supplies. ❤

Experience was great! The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their stuff. They do tend to hover but I never once felt uncomfortable (despite being a POC). They will invest every ounce of their time to make sure you are taken care of, and I never once received this level of attention anywhere else. I wouldn't come here if you're in a rush though. The store is small, but there is quite a lot of materials and mediums in stock. They always have a 20% discount on supplies, so it's worth checking out if you're tight on cash. I'm not exactly sure what kind of savings people are expecting from an art store, but after the discounts, I saved about $100 from my last visit. Definitely recommend this place for all artists or hobbyist!
