Brought our two dogs in for their annual checkup. Dropped them off early morning at opening hour. Went to pick up the dogs in the afternoon around 4pm. The nurse then said the dogs have not had their teeth cleaning yet and I had to wait another hour. The dogs have been there the whole day and they were still not finished. Dogs came out all wet as if they were rushed to be finished up. One of our dogs was very scared and whining. Upon inspection at home I found that one dog had been poked with 5 needle sticks, from them trying to draw blood! That is unacceptable! We know because we are in the medical field. When the dogs were picked up the veterinarian did not bother to come out for after visit consultation nor did we receive any paperwork of what had actually been done for the dogs. Money was charged and medications paid for. We did not receive medications since they did not have any at the time of visit. I was told the medication would be sent home to our home. No calls to inform us when medication would be in, or any updates. Called back over a week later and had to speak to several people on the phone, but nobody could give us an answer. I was told to call back to speak to a manager that wasn't there. After 3-4 phone calls and speaking to different people each time, we finally decided to call another Banfield and they were able to assist us. We did not receive our medications until two months after visit. I don't know what kind of system they are using but it is not working very well. We're never going back to the San Felipe/Tanglewood location again.

The staff is extremely kind and great with the animals. However, every office visit has resulted in some form of incompetence (misinformation for the most part). They’re also quite pushy about vaccines and medications. I signed up for their year long membership and I wish I hadn’t so I could go elsewhere.

Two months ago the vet told us that our youngest dachshund had a cavity and the tooth would have to be removed. I told them that he was barely a year old but was assured that cavities happen at any age. When I brought him in for the procedure, I asked the vet to show me which tooth it was because I couldn't see which tooth had a problem. They assured me that sometimes they can see things that I could possibly overlook. I asked to see the x-ray and they told me it was a visual determination. So I left him there, and they put him under anesthesia.Later that day, they called me telling me that the tooth was fine and it would not have to be removed after all, that there might have been some debris but he was fine. I was relieved, went to pay my bill and pick him up.Two weeks ago, I went for another checkup at a different location and the vet confirmed what I had suspected the entire time. My dogs were mixed up, the youngest was placed under anesthesia instead of my older dog. And the older dog has been in pain this entire time with the bad tooth.I've emailed asking for a resolution but no one has answered my emails. I've called the corporate office and they have informed me that the local office will be giving me a call. A call never came. I called personally and was assured someone was assigned to my case and they would call me. Nothing. I've gone in person and was told the person I had to talk to was not working there any longer and someone from another office would have to call me. I've been ignored for weeks and I'm baffled why no one will answer my emails or return my calls at all.

I've been taking my two dogs here for their care for years. They always do such an amazing job. The doctors and staff are always very informative and listen to our concerns. Thank you Banfield! ❤️

After several years of being a loyal customer at Banfield we have decided to take our pets’ care elsewhere. Our senior dog had a visually apparent ear infection with white and green discharge and our dog was in a lot of discomfort and pain. The vet failed to send him home on appropriate treatment (antibiotics) and gave us misguided directions on the ear cleanser they did send home. After 2 weeks of our dog’s ear not getting better we have taken him somewhere else and were informed a major infection was not treated properly.

The folks at this Banfield location are amazing. When my little one had to go in for dental issues, they took great care of her and put me at ease. Your fur babies will be if wonderful hands!

I brought my foster puppy here 2 weeks ago, and when she got discharged I had to make another appt for a check up. It was supposed to be tomorrow, but when I called to confirm they said there was no appt for her. Incompetent staff who don't know how to schedule.

Dr. Schultz is a very caring veterinarian (my Yorkie feels better now). She thoroughly explains the issue at hand with incredible expertise. She is very patient and takes the time to offer suggestions and best options as well as some extra good-to-know knowledge. I highly recommend her for her professionalism and amazing attitude :) Thank you so much for the kindness and heart.Location: 5885 San FelipeReason for visit: I went to Banfield Pet Hospital because my Yorkie was experiencing excessive itching, I had tried a special shampoo, and even specific wipes for possible allergies recommended to me online by vets, and ultimately, the online vets recommended prescription flea medication. I took her in person to this vet hospital, and Dr. Schultz verified that this case seemed very likely to be caused by a flea allergy, and since my Yorkie was lethargic and shaky when over-the-counter topical flea medicine was administered at home, she recommended an oral one that they had in stock (prescription only). She also recommended a shot for immediate allergy symptom relief but also offered other options, such as purchasing other OTC items. I went with the allergy shot after it was thoroughly explained to me because my Yorkie had been suffering for a while from this constant daily itch. I brought her home, and the itch has practically disappeared.

The place looks nice, staff are friendly, but they're crooks. They try to get every last penny from you and leave out important information so you end up paying more for visits than they initially said. In the consultation, they told me the cost of my pets neuter. When it came to the day of, it was about 100$ more expensive. The doctor himself gave me the wrong estimate price. So I asked them why I had to pay 100$ more on behalf of their staff making a mistake, and the manager had too much pride to admit they were wrong. And then on top of that, they added other services to make the cost more expensive, without even asking me. It was only when I questioned things that they said "oh it's optional". Never did they demonstrate basic customer service skills when dealing with the estimate issue.

Staff just don't know what they are doing... I read the reviews thinking people were just being negative but no... it was bad! So I took my puppy for a check up and her first shots. I had the appointment at 12:30 and didn't take her in till 1:30... like what's the point on making an appointment??? Whatever I just let them do what she needed.. it seems like they didn't even really check on her because I told them she had flees since she was scratching a lot... apparently to their eyes she didn't. They said "it could be allergies"??????? She kept crying on our way back home scratching herself I gave her a bath and took off like 20 flees and still has more. She's been complaining and crying so I'm trying to understand what they did to her because she clearly wasn't checked on well enough. I recommend not to take your dog here.. not even the money at this point I just want my dog to be okay and well taken care off. Front desk doesn't know what they are doing and clearly neither does the vet. The vet wasn't rude at all she just doesn't know what she's doing. The guy at the front took 30 min to figure out how to charge me... he first charge me $150 then $60?!? I was so confuse since I decided to get my puppy the monthly play on $60 to cover all her check ups and shots. I was suppose to go home with a pill for her to give today since today she turns 8 weeks but they "couldn't find it" I don't even know what that means...

They were friendly & Took care of my fur baby, but they are way over priced. Guess that’s just the industry though.
