This place is horrible. The staff? Horrible! Rental office? Horrible! Very rude staff for absolutely no reason. They hate their jobs, obviously. The office is tiny, unkept and kinda sketch. The line was long AF, staff was short with customers but slow at doing things, and it was hot AF. They didn't have fastbreak even though I got an email the same day as my reservation directing me to proceed to a fastbreak desk for my rental. I reserved an intermediate car from here for Fri night to Mon. I got to the front desk and the rude lady took my info and told me she didn't see my reservation. I showed her my confirmation and she was finally able to pull up my rental information and said my coupon is expired. What? What does that even mean? She just said "idk it says coupon is expired I can't give it to you for that price and we don't have those cars available anyways." I'm like I didn't use a coupon, and I have a confirmation email and she just repeats herself, "I can't give it to you for that price." What freaking coupon? I didn't use a coupon! I have an email confirmation. I could tell she was very short with me and didn't want to look into it, so I didn't press it further. She just stares at me annoyed. But I'm thinking wth is going on? I even got an email THE DAY of MY RENTAL RESERVATION with directions on pick up and confirmation. How was I even able to reserve the rental then? I didn't use a freaking coupon! Me being desperate and after waiting in that long line kinda panicked that I wouldn't have a car. So I just asked what I could rent and how much. She quoted me over $500 just for the car alone. It was a big ass suburban or minivan that I did not really want. But me being in panic mode I was just like ok I guess I don't have a choice. She continues in her miserable way asking if I wanted premium insurance or basic. She asked about toll pass which was $12.99/day. I'm not from texas I don't know if I need this but just in case, I just said sure. Then a light bulb lit up! I realize I don't have to take this abuse and I don't have to give them my business. I'm already paying a premium price for a rental I don't want, I already missed my dinner reservation, I'm already late for check-in. So, what's another hour? I told her never mind. I don't need a car. I got back on the shuttle to the airport and took another shuttle to Alamo/National and rented a basic compact SUV (bc it was the cheapest) w/o any upgrades. No fuss, hassle, or upsales from the agent. There were a few I could pick from, but I went with the Equinox. Also, there wasn't a long line, staff was way friendlier, and toll will be billed to me if I cross any. I prepaid for a full take of gas b/c I'm from California so $3.39/gal is nothing to me. My total was just a little over $300 for a last minute rental. Lesson of the day: People only treat you how you allow them to. I refused to subject myself to more abuse from Budget/Avis at this location, so I left and I'm glad I did.

This was the best experience I've ever had renting a car. My husband and I were in and out. The lady at the front was extremely patient with us and very nice. I think her name was Christine but I'm not sure. She went above and beyond to help us. If I could give 10 stars I would.

When I arrived to obtain my vehicle, the line was very long. When I arrived at the counter the woman informed me that I would be receiving an upgraded vehicle since there were nine left in my category. I was pleased of course to receive this news. I was only in Houston for the day. I had to be back at the airport within eight hours. I was traveling to a town two hours away so my time is very limited.When we got into the vehicle and turned it on, the low tire pressure light was on. My daughter got out of the vehicle and checked all four tires. She told me they looked fine and we probably just needed air in them. I agreed with her since I am from Illinois and that frequently happens to our vehicles because of the weather change. So we traveled down the highway and stopped at a service station to get air put in the tires. The attendant informed us that there was a nail in the sidewall of the back passenger side tire. He warned us against getting back on the highway and instead changed the tire for us at no charge. We continued on our journey and returned the car on time at the airport. When I turned in the car I explained to the attendant what had happened. I informed him I did not want to be charged because of this due to the fact that the light was on when we got into the vehicle.Since then I have received a notification that I would be billed for repairs to the tire. I have been in correspondence with budget on numerous occasions via email. They assured me that I would not be charged for the tire repair. However, receiving my bank statement today I realized that they did charge me. I am over this! I have never received such substandard service in my life. I will never again rent from budget Rent-A-Car or give reference for them.Very disappointed!Melody LaRocqueIllinois

I am actively lobbying my boss to rent from somewhere else when I come to Houston. The people who work here are both stupid and rude, which is a dangerous combination in my book.Fellow road warriors and travellers- pick somewhere else to rent a car if you are able

They gave me a truck with 168,000 miles on it. It had no cruise control and bald front tires. By the grace of God we safety made it to our destination after 1700 miles. Unless you really believe and trust your creator, use extreme caution.

Our overall experience with this location is about as terrible as any rental call place in our lives. You cannot speak with the office so if you have any questions be prepared for robots, long waits and once you speak with someone they can't help. You will he overcharged, paying more than the car is worth. Do not leave anything in the car because, see above. Bottom line: this place doesn't warrant a 1 star, it should be lower.
