I turned 21 and decided to go with my dad to purchase a handgun for myself on my birthday, everything was going fine until one of the workers, Glen was rude towards us because we were looking at a firearm and I was showing my dad because he has more experience with them and I asked Glen a couple of questions and he rudely without any effort to answer of our questions, said he wouldn't sell it to me bc apparently I was buying it for my dad, I then proceeded to tell Glen that the firearm was for me and not for my dad bc It was my birthday and he said" I'm not stupid I've been doing this for years and I know what you're trying to do" but the whole time we were looking at the firearm he was murmuring under his breath. I told Glen " sir it's my birthday I just turned 21 today and I would like to purchase a firearm" he had no manners or cared whatsoever which he then proceeded to tell me he wasn't going to sell me a firearm. So I highly do not recommend buying from Glen, he's around his late 50's and wears glasses.

Wasn’t greeted upon entry. As I was walking around no one really asked if I needed any help. I approached the counter on my own accord, and the guys at the counter just seemed annoyed with my questions. So I just left. I’ll take my business elsewhere. Service is key!

6 words : 2 Days, 3 people, 3 guns.Last Thursday and Friday I had the pleasure of visiting one of my two favorite gun stores, both of which also happened to be within a 2 mile radius of my house. Buy Local and Avoid Big Box Stores, and Collectors. JK love you collectors, was an old Barnes and noble, just you got a lot of other stores ahead of you.Initially, went in to purchase my Bog Shooting Sticks, and JDewey Cleaning rod, Blackpowderand afterwards,I intended to window shop, shelf shop the firearms, if they didn’t have the CZ 452 Jaguar Model, Ruger Mark IV Target 10 inch model, Ruger Mark IV. Never have I owned a 22LR firearm, and the old quote and adage new year new me new guns.Highly recommend the above firearms and accessories if you are not the best at off hand, don’t want to carry a gun cradle(tripod/quad pod with a gun cradle, and invest in a tool to take care of your firearms. Not paying for quality cleaning equipment while owning quality firearms, is as ill advised as having a brand new vehicle without having full coverage, or a cheap bike lock on an expensive bicycle. Cmon now!!On both days Kian, Greg and Angel guided were beyond patient, kind, knowledgeable, and humble enough to answer my plentiful questions, even gracious enough to share their thoughts, opinions on their philosophy of purchase and use. Not only with myself but with other customer as well.Greg showed me, like after I struggled to understand his directions where the black powder was, he walked beyond the counter and walked me to where it was. All the while being humorous and kind. They didn’t have 3 F BLack powder, nor didI did not see the CZ 452. Walked back and forth at firearms that were on the list of future purchases.Came across the Winchester 69, saw the price tag, read what it could shoot, examine the bore, clean and bright, bam done deal. Did not see the 9 inch heritage rough rider but ordered one online. Bought a brick of 22 LR and 22 Short. Thank you Keon. At the register, Angel was again so kind, both really made my Thursday. On the way out, I noticed the Ruger 10/22 Takedown stainless model with Ruger bag. It was a “Used” but brand new firearms. Still had factory tags and stickers.Since it was close to closing had to come back tomorrow.Friday, saw Angel and Gregg. Glad to see that the Ruger was still. Gregg opened the bag, in it was a brand new scope, camera mount, sling, extra top rails, and extra 30 round banana magazine each in their original box.Gregg man, lol what a character, ask that guy to come up with some bumper stickers. Like Keon, and Angel, professional, and knowledgeable funny and patient. After asking him and Keon to comment on my ideas on what I’m looking for and why etc, because I want to learn. They handle more guns in a day then I had, have and will ever carry. So they know a thing about some things and work at and for Carters for a reason. And I left happy both days not only for the new firearms, the knowledge I gained and the great experience I had. Thanks y’all. Sorry for the thesis and delay.

Unfortunately I have to add another bad review. If you buy anything from them online, there is zero communication afterwards regarding the status of your order. ZERO. I even went to one of their locations for an update. They said they have no way to track an online order and you basically have to pray they eventually get around to fulfilling it. In today's world, that is totally unacceptable. This isn't the 1970s. You can email their online ordering for updates but you'll never get a reply. Totally unacceptable. Would not recommend.

Unfortunately the allegations of racism seem to be true. I shoot and reload competitively and came here to get some small items. Despite there being lots of staff present, they would pretty much pretend that I wasn't there. As ridiculous as it sounds, they served all white men in the checkout line before they would even look at me, even though I was first in line.Even if you don't care about their racial profiling, Academy and Bass Pro have same or better prices on most things. And online stores have way better prices on everything. Not much reason for anyone to ever come here.

You need to know what you want before you come here. Their selection of firearms is decent, but the guys behind the counter often don't know the difference between .380 and 9m (I actually had to explain this to more than one of them), much less any other firearm in the store.

My husband and I purchased a deer rifle 2 weeks ago from here. There is a strait pin that holds the clip in it and no way to keep it from falling out. We called Carters Country this morning and was told sorry we don't work on or warranty brand new $1600 guns. We were told we needed to take it to a gunsmith and have it repaired. This is a factory defect and not a user error. This was our first and last purchase with Carters Country. If you want an honest place to purchase a gun use R&M out of Wharton Texas. Kelly Hundl

Horrible customer service!! I placed an order 2 weeks ago & I have not received an feedback on my order. So, I emailed them 5 time about my order; no return email or phone call as bout my order. Then, you have to wait 3 to 10 days to receive your order & you still may not received within the time frame... Don't waste your time try to do business with these people.

There are all kinds of places in Houston that deserve bad reviews, but Carter's isn't one of them. I think most of the 1 star review people just aren't used to being somewhere where manners are required.

I was looking to buy my first firearm and i'm glad i chose this place. I was looking for a PDP F-Series with MSRP price and i found them both here. It was a tough choice between the Glock 19 and the PDP F series (same price), but i ended up choosing what i first wanted which was the latter. The grip on that PDP was absolutely perfect for my small, midget hands. The young man with brown, spiky hair was courteous and answered all of my questions and needs. If i ever swing by Houston again (i'm a trucker), i'll be sure to drop by and get the glock 19 if i haven't gotten it already.

I was in the market for a new fire arm. One I haven't had a chance to see in person so I had questions. I go up to the store and walk over to the gun counter. Immediately one of the workers just gets a nasty tone with me. I haven't even inquired about the firearm yet but he just shuts me and my questions down and very rudely. I forgot his name but he's a taller W man around his 35-40's. He was not helpful, he was not welcoming and pretty much a douchebag by definition. Only cause you're working at a gun store doesn't make you strong and mighty. You working to serve me and my needs. Never again Carter's country.

I went here several years ago to get started with target shooting as a hobby. The man behind the counter was helping us and I made a mistake in misnaming the caliber of round needed. He stood straight up, looked towards the store, and loudly proclaimed "Ma'am, I will help you any day but I will never sell a gun to to this man!" Rather than mentor, he chose to belittle. Rather than share knowledge, he chose to hoard it. Rather than help, he chose to hinder. That was an expensive mistake. We have spent well into the five figures on our hobby. As he prophesied, not a penny of it went to him or Carter Country.
