These guys do great work when they come. However, I have been a customer with them for close to two years and their customer service is not very good. They will put me on the schedule and will typically reschedule. The problem is that they typically reschedule for when it is convenient for them. For example, I had work scheduled for a Tuesday and they were not able to come due to mechanical problems. I completely understand that this thing can happen. However, I have contacted them for three days straight and I only get vague responses “We’re looking for the very nearest opportunity to visit you…” Whenever I have had service people from other companies reschedule, they have told me the same day or the next day when I have been rescheduling. The rescheduling is usually the next day or within a day or two. Amazon Bamboo is more than willing to bill me every month, but they seem incapable of providing good customer service. I do not want to disparage their workers. They are knowledgeable and do a marvelous job when they come.

Terrible customer service, as you can see from Houston Bamboo's replies to negative reviews, they take no accountability. My former neighbor used them and they either did not show up for his scheduled maintenance or failed to do proper maintenance (even though they were informed ahead of time of the issues). Bamboo is growing through, not just over, adjoining fences into neighboring yards and damaging property. I have reached out to them multiple times to address the issue their lack of maintenance has caused and, as you can guess from their track record, there has been zero response.

I bought five bamboos from them- three clumping and two running- Got them delivered and planted. The guys that came over (Felix and another young man), where very knowledgeable- they gave me a crash-course on bamboo growth, maintenance and even showed me pictures (upon my request) of landscaping ideas. They gave me gardening tips on how to improve the health of my other plants and depth of planting. Could not have asked more from them- they surely went above and beyond (specially on a hot humid Houston afternoon)
Why the 4 stars? I had an issue with one of the small ones (fishing pole) and it took a while for them to resolve; however, they did provide satisfactory resolution.
I diligently water them- per Felix instructions, and they have thrived and grown within a short period of time.

This is the best service we have experienced yet! The crew was on time, professional, and went above and beyond in shaping my bamboo. They cleaned so well after themselves. I am SO HAPPY!

Unethical business with unscrupulous business practices. Their customer service is nonexistent. They charge for bamboos that they promise to care for, but instead let wither away and die!
Be careful with the manager, Elizabeth. She is a liar and cheat!

The staff at Houston Bamboo helped me pick out the right bamboo for my yard and installed the bamboo over 6 years ago. They did a great job and the bamboo has done beautifully. Also have used their quarterly bamboo service plan and it is very professionally done. Highly recommend them for bamboo purchases and maintenance.
As far as I am concerned, they are the best.

I've got nothing but good things to say about this place. I have been there in person several times and have bought things and they are always very helpful. Recently, I purchased 10 emerald bamboo and chatted through text with Elizabeth. She was very responsive and helpful and I ended up having it delivered and installed. She sent a clear and concise invoice that I was able to pay online ahead of time. Before they arrived, I received multiple automated texts keeping me informed of their delivery time window on when they would arrive. On the day of delivery, they arrived relatively close to their time window and their team was quick and efficient. I had questions for the team about the other bamboo I had previously purchased and they were very helpful and informative. I have zero complaints and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. 11/10!

Very friendly and knowledgeable, they know bamboo. We drove over 2 hours from Lake Charles, LA on a Saturday to buy some bamboo. It was worth the trip and I plan on making another purchase in the future, thank you for the great service!

Scheduling is horrible. The maintenance team that comes out to the home is great. This is probably the only reason we stay. The billing is always wrong and the scheduling and customer service is one lady who can’t keep everything straight. It’s a begging service to have them come to your home. They apologize but then make excuses. They don’t bring the plants you ask during your appointment, but want to make multiple visitors to charge you and never seem prepared. We really hope they clean up there act and provide the customer service experience everyone should receive

I was a long standing customer of this company since its inception. It used to have exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, a new manager and co-owner, Elizabeth, came on board to run the company. She frankly is rude and confrontational. She does not care about customer service. Communication and scheduling appointments and service calls is extremely problematic. I had to call repeatedly for service and had significant delays and no shows.
I canceled my service with them. STAY AWAY from them. Too many hassles!!!

Purchased 5k in bamboo. Bought the warranty. All plants are dead, and I have repeatedly asked for replacement plants or a refund. They have done neither. With the warranty, I should have had 0 issues. Instead, I was repeatedly asked for photos, and they did nothing when sent. Im out 5k and left with a yard with dead sticks. Seeking legal recourse at this point. Dont get ripped off like I did. Shop elsewhere.
I have read their response, and they are absolute liars. They failed to share in their response that I told them I was training and traveling for my new job in other cities and was not home to " watch" the bamboo..I was gone for 3 months training...I had purchased a watering system from them that they installed and set up. The watering system was on an automatic timer.. The bamboo was being watered as per their setup! How was I underwatering when it was what they set up when they planted the trees? I immediately contacted them when I got home and saw that the plants were dead.
As a side note, how "reputable" is this company when I originally purchased these plants online from them via Amazon? They contacted me and asked me to please pay them directly so they wouldn't incur an Amaxon fee.I obliged. What I am now missing is the support that I would have gotten from Amazon for the dead plants and horrendus service.
I purchased a warranty, and they never honored it. They complained in their response about me living in Dallas.. They were fully aware of this, and it was not an issue when I purchased the plants and the warranty for 5k.
This company is a complete sham. I have all of the text messages and photos. I have the original purchase via Amazon and the emails asking me to pay them directly.
As I stated in my original review,...Dont get taken for 5k like I did. As a consumer, when you have purchased a warranty and their watering system, the plants should have been immediately replaced. As a consumer, I paid in good faith. Added in systems to protect the plants and purchased a warranty. They completely failed to honor their commitment.
Dont get scammed like I did! Buy your bamboo elsewhere..The fraud here is that I was taken for 5k and own a pile of sticks.
*** sidenote, July of 2023 ( long after the bamboo was dead) I repiped my home since I had q pipes. I also replaced the sewer lines.The job took less than a week to complete. If they want to claim that because I upgraded my water/sewer in a 7 day window amd thats why the plants died, I will surely win my case against them. All I want is a refund or replacement bamboo like my warranty stated I would receive. Honor your word and warranty..pretty simple!

Super informative and easy process to learn more about their bamboo offerings and install services. We had our install today and it went super quickly and smoothly. We also had them tap into our irrigation system to add irrigation to each bamboo plant and am so grateful they offer that service to ensure our new bamboo is well watered as it roots into the soil.

I love all 13 of my bamboos! However, their business creates a truckload of mistakes time and time again due to poor communication and understanding by employees. It is completely frustrating.
After the freeze, I requested via email and text to keep 4 of the 13 bamboo wraps. Instead of doing that, they left all 13 wraps and also left all of the 26 large pieces of wood that I never asked to keep. Now I have a large pile of wood in my backyard with nails sticking out (I have a dog and daughter that use the backyard).
The crew cut and ruptured my waterline when installing the wraps for the freeze. Nobody bothered to ask me where the waterline runs (and I assumed they knew) but nope, water ponded in my yard. I asked them to repair it and to make sure all of the bamboos are getting water. They repaired the line but when I just checked each bamboo, not all bamboos are getting water.
The time before this, the lead crew member forgot to bring a bamboo plant to install, apologized for his error, and they had to reschedule it for the following week.
I am only halfway through the problems but you get the idea.
Once the owners and managers decide to sit down and create a comprehensive plan to establish the right systems and processes to avoid basic errors while increasing effective communication internally, this business will be 5 stars along with the actual bamboos.
Until then, it is 2 stars for me with the hopes that I can increase them and can avoid constant, consistent frustrations.
On a side note I will add that when two bamboos never did catch on and grow along with the other 11 at the time, they did replace them at no cost.

I have mixed feelings about this company. They did a great job installing my bamboo and maintaining it. They also do a good job maintaining the bamboo. However, they do not always communicate well. On more than one occasion they have rescheduled appointments at the last minute. In one case, they missed the appoint and did not communicate anything until the next day. I understand that people get busy, but when you are paying a monthly fee for service, there should never be a no show with no communication before hand.
