Just try adopted two kittens from them, and I denied application without even talking to me. I always have taken very good of my fur baby they always had forever homes in my house and Always up-to-date on their shot. own my own house for the last 35 years I guess you have to be the perfect and mean very Perfect before they adopt their animals to or maybe the foster are getting attached to them or decides to keep them in that case you need to take them off your site. If you’re not perfect, and always shape and form, I wouldn’t even try this place And they wonder why people go out and go buy cats and breed

Giving a 1 STAR rating in hopes that someone will communicate with me. My puppy received vet care here. 1st Vist was amazing, I left with a wealth of knowledge, an updated shot record and an appointment reminder for our next visit. 2nd visit was the polar opposite. I left with nothing. Here we are months later and I've been calling trying to get another appointment and a copy of her shot record including the vaccines from the 2nd visit...and they aren't answering or responding to emails. So frustrating.

Highly recommend for any and all adoptions and fosters! Great people, fast communication, and they make the foster & adoption process flow smoothly. Also, pretty darn cute animals we rescued a dog from here and are in love!

I volunteer with the cats and just recently adopted a 3 month old dog. The cats are so cute and silly and i enjoy seeing a family take 1 or 2 home. For my own adoption, i Love that he came already neutered and with as many of his beginning shots and vaccines as he could with his age. He was already partly potty and crate changed bc of his time with a foster.

Houston Pets Alive is an amazing organization. They offer some training to potential foster families and adopters. This greatly increases adoption rates and reduces returns. Also a great increase for the quality of the lovely animals as they get better treatment through expanded knowledge and understanding of the perspective of an animal that has literally been through some hellish experiences. They regularly rescue animals on the kill list which is how we got our furry family.Thank you for all you do.

HPA is amazing! The application process is very easy and you are able to meet and greet animals you are interested in adopting. The staff does a tremendous job with the animals. We are so thankful to them for what they did for our Dobby. Most people would have given up on him but not HPA - he is happy and healthy thanks to them❤️

They were amazing! We adopted Pearl, who’s the sweetest girl ever! It was very easy and straightforward. Gail originally reached out to me and I love that she didn’t just text but called! There’s so many shelters that you can’t talk to a real human, but here you can! It does take about 24/48 hours to get your application approved. After that you set up a time to meet and if all goes well you have a new family member! Grace was who helped us that day and she was wonderful as well! They all were! It’s also very clean in there as well which was a big plus for me! Pearl seems to have been taken care of very well and is still coming out of her shell! Always try to adopt before you shop!

I recently lost my best friend and gathered up all that I had and went to donate it to HPA. They were so very grateful for the little I had to offer. These people are very caring individuals and when the time is right, I will definitely go back to adopt from them. One more thing, I noticed the donation shelf was empty and wanted to remind everyone to donate if you can spare it.

So a week before going I filled up the foster care form and since they are only open on Saturday I Called in and they agreed to take the kittens but said to come the same day and that’s what I did, went the same dayDrove an hour to this place and guess what ? They said no because they already took someone’s else’s kitten and there is no more room !Now tell me people ? Shouldn’t they inform me that they already got more kittens and there is no more room ! I wasted my 2 hours back and forth just to come here !I was just fostering these kittens and needed a home for them and that’s the only reason I contacted these people and they said come but guess this place is not reliable and can’t be trusted and they also did not guarantee me that this is a no-kill shelter which is very scary

I was looking for a no-kill shelter because there are many strays around my apartment complex. I named this one Lilly and took care of her for a couple of months before taking her in to HPA. During her checkup, she unfortunately tested positive for FeLV, and HPA could not take her in but told me Austin Pets Alive has a program where they'll take in FeLV cats instead. While she was put on the wait list and my friend and I fostered, Dr. Baker educated me on FeLV and the very short lifespan they have. Sure enough, Lilly did not make it and her health deteriorated within months. Dr. Baker and the team was so empathetic and did their best to treat Lilly's symptoms while she was alive. Every vet visit we had was handled with care and understanding. Although we had to euthanize Lilly, I couldn't have asked for a better team to be there for her. Thank you Dr.Baker and thank you HPA

We adopted our sweet pup from HPA and they were amazing and responsive from the time we submitted our application, we received a text within 18 hours to set up a meeting. They have a great facility/play area where we could meet our pup. Highly recommend working with HPA if you’re looking to adopt.

We are so happy we connected with Houston Pets Alive and met our new pup. The adoption process was smooth and well organized. We got re-approved and were able to do everything at the adoption event. The staff were familiar with two dogs we met & gave good information. We have now had our new dog as part of our family 3 weeks and are very pleased. Its great to know with Houston Pets Alive you are saving a shelter animal!
