Edit: updating this to one star since the payout requirement for these machines are really high for such small toys. This store is less of a home goods place and now kind of a weeaboo katered shop. Dime a dozen in Houston yawn!!!! They sell $20 prize figures for $40 and it's a shame to see it change so much in 5 years.
As a crane machine fan I was really happy when I saw they had these! Unfortunately the claws are SO WEAK they cannot carry these little toys very well you will only win if the machine has a toy very close to the drop. Very disappointing they should have just had gacha machines instead. I'm happy I got this guy but I know I could have won more. For $1 a play is a little ridiculous when the toy drops the second the machine moves to the drop 9/10 plays
Also sad to see the home goods removed but it's houston and anime sells

Cute store. Nice selection of items, specially animé. The prices seemed a little high for me.

Used to be a regular stop but have since felt that the customer service has been lacking. Employees are not welcoming and racially profile customers in a way that is not only offensive but also uncomfortable. Being followed around the store is not worth the cheap quality products you can find at literally any other store/ebay/temu or even diy. I understand wanting to protect store merchandise, however, if customer service is going to be anything but “service” or friendly y’all should really consider not being racist.

Great little shop with Japanese toiletries, some Japanese home goods, anime stuff, Kiddleton claw machines and they now have a Naruto Emblem game. The employees are always friendly. They have some interesting lottery style games to win prizes… I haven’t played them but I saw some regulars play and win a plush and a few other prizes. I would have given 5 stars- but the claw machines win rate is set high. The Naruto game is entertaining and as far as we can tell it’s the only one in a 100 mile radius so it’s worth the 3 dollars to play. My son enjoys the strategy of choosing players - which in my eyes is building math skills lol.

Complete scam. The claw machines are so weak. It’s actually shameful.

Sucks. Claw machines are a scam, complete waste of money. The merch is overpriced stereotypical american Otaku merch, and the side with actual Japanese items look like clearance items they havent bothered to restock in ages. All the 3 staff sit behind the counter being unhelpful, could not be bothered to walk out from behind the counter to help. This store lacks heart and authenticity, just capitalizing on marked up anime figures.

Claw machines are a scam. All of the items fall once the claw reaches the top. It’s not worth bringing your kids here.

I mostly come here for the model/build kits and figures. They have a huge selection of gundam, one piece, Pokemon building kits and much more. Highly recommend this place!

I only come here for the vending machines after getting ramen at Ramen Bar Ichi. They used to have a big variety of notebooks pen and pencils but recently they just seem to have stickers. All their prices are pretty ridiculous for all their items especially figurines. Also the staff is always rude and annoyed you walked in. I miss what this place was 2 years ago. not sure if they got a new supplier or just who ever orders is not getting some of the items they used to before.

The assortment is not the same as in the photo from over a year ago. It has changed terribly.Indeed, it used to be a very convenient store selling Japanese cosmetics, school supplies for Japanese language supplementary schools, and various other things that are hard to find in Houston. It was a great when it opened next to Seiwa few years ago!Now it is a store just for OTAKU. Gunpla, anime figures, and manga translated into English. The walls are all Sailor Moon and One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen.Only a few kokugo notebooks and a few face packs, but they won't be in stock anymore.

Completely disappointed in the state of the store. Everything is three four times retail price of most others. There was almost nothing on the shelves. Staff are rude and don't acknowledge your existence but will follow and stare you down for possible theft.

Claw machines were insanely weak. Do not try those. Items are overpriced and the store is somewhat incoherent. As a half japanese I feel as if the store is a harsh misrepresentation of japanese stores. If you are only there for the items you can go but I would not recommend as there are other stores with similar items. This is a crude mockery of japan’s culture. There was way too many bikini girls out in the open and gives a bad image that japanese are not decent. This is why Americans believe japan deserves a third.

japanese store with figures and a lot of anime but my complaint is the claw machines. me and my bf got some coins but whenever we used the gachapon machines the claw don't even grab it at all. it just goes down and then up for 1 second. a scam and a waste of money.
