This Kroger, located in the Heights Plaza on 20th St, is definitely not the best Kroger I've been to. The plaza itself is pretty rundown and shares space with a Goodwill, and unfortunately, the area tends to attract a lot of sketchy activity—homeless individuals and people who may be dealing with mental illness, some of whom have been confrontational. It can feel a little uncomfortable walking through the parking lot.
The store itself is smaller than most other Kroger locations and doesn’t have a pharmacy, which is surprising these days. The selection is limited compared to stores like H-E-B, so if you're looking for specialty items or a big grocery run, this might not be your best bet.
That said, the biggest upside is the parking lot—it's usually easy to find a spot, and if you're just popping in for a few essentials, it's quick and convenient. Just be mindful of your surroundings when coming and going.
In short: it’s not a destination grocery store, but in a pinch, it’s functional. Just don’t expect too much.

By far, it's the worst Kroger I have ever been to. Two staff members were terribly rude. Cases of refrigerated food just sitting around with no one stocking them. Customer service employee just walked off without a word and cones back about 5 minutes later without an apology, only "hello". Then she makes me repeat myself saying, "huh" even though I spoke clearly and succinctly. I would not shop here again except that their water filling machine is currently working (as of Feb 26, 2025).
It can be difficult to find stores with those machines that are being properly maintained.

I just got home and hope no one else has to go thru the same interaction I just had with the female working the money service department. This is my first visit at this location, and I hope the last. I asked a family member and see if they can get a few dollars exchanged for quarters. They came back and said no. I asked the people at the register as I was finishing my transaction on purchasing groceries if they have quarters to exchange for dollars. They said to try the Money services booth. So at the end my transaction I myself went to the booth and asked. The female working said they don't because they needed if for the cashiers. I completely understood. accept the answer and headed out the door. Out of nowhere I hear someone yelling "I just told her".
I turn back, and the female working the money booth is looking directly at me. So I stopped and told her there was no reason for you to raise your voice at me and make that comment. I was already walking out the door. She say "then goodbye".. I don't know what issues she had thay day? I can't believe that Kroger has a person with a clear lack of professionalism and attitude to work in customer service. I had to bring it to the Managers attention, Jose. He asked me what had happened, and he called her extension at the booth. I'm not sure what she said, but they hung up, and she walked away from the service desk abruptly. The same thing I said in this comment is what I told Jose. She had no reason to interact with me or my family member as I was leaving with that belligerent comment. The interaction was complete when she gave me the answer. He said he would "handle it". I don't feel confident. As I was walking out one of the workers said "I'm glad you said something...she has an attitude problem" (not surprised). As I was leaving I saw her again. I told her "Ma'am have a blessed day"

Been coming here for years and sad to say the deli has declined greatly... I bought a 8 piece fried chicken and both breast and both thighs were raw... Not just undercooked, RAW. I better not get salmonella.

Poor customer service, poor overall appearance and conditions of the store. the Kroger employee near the deli / bakery on 12/31 at 1:00 pm was lazy and more concerned with chatting it up with his friend rather than working. The employee didn’t offer to help and when I asked for an item ( the Hawaiian bread bowl) the Kroger website said was in stock he made an excuse saying they used to carry the Hawaiian bread bowl and now they’re sold out and when I asked if they had any bread bowels he just shrugged it off and said no.

Decent local neighborhood Kroger good to run in and get the basics, but I typically choose to goto a larger store even for routine shopping.
The employees are very friendly and helpful so the vibe is a calmer.
It’s a smaller store and older / more run down than other locations. The meat section isn’t as well stocked so selection isn’t as good. The produce section is on par. There’s no pharmacy.
Parking is pretty easy as there’s lots of spaces.

I love paying for groceries I don't receive. If you're going to scan my items, bag them too.

Kroger is one of the finest to grocery shop, facilitates a Kroger discount or savings grocery card to reduce grocery and reduce gasoline cents per gallon. Awesome.
