On August 28th, my wife, her friend, and I were trapped for nearly an hour in the freight elevator at CubeSmart Self Storage, 5700 Washington Ave, Houston, TX. The elevator overheated so badly that our shirts were soaked through within minutes, and my wife’s friend required medical evaluation for heat exhaustion afterward.
The emergency phone was useless, staff acted annoyed that we called 911 (instead of following a “protocol” they never posted), and corporate never reached out with an apology or explanation. No one cared whether we lived, died, or ever did business with them again.
This is gross negligence and a complete disregard for customer safety. If you value your health or peace of mind, stay away from this location. I will be filing complaints with state regulators, fire officials, and seeking legal counsel.
CubeSmart put lives at risk and doesn’t care.

Excellent customer service from Amber & Victor! They helped me find a smaller unit and were very responsive to my questions and requests. Glad I chose CubeSmart!

I have had a storage unit here for a very long time. The unit price doesn't match the quality of the area and the facility. The doors are constantly broken so having security access to get in doesn't mean much because anyone can walk in. There is a fairly large homeless population in this part of town. Unfortunately, it was amazing to start with but just gone down over the years. Not sure if its ownership, management, or staff but hopefully a proper review will help get things fixed
Again... August 3rd... doors continues to still be broken. This is to be a locked and secured facility but the door does not work nor is it secure. Why is this not a repair priority for the facility?

We couldn't have been more pleased with the courtesy and consideration shown to our family during the process of downsizing our stored items following a hurricane. Elisa at the 5700 Washington Avenue store was incredible to deal with. We'd strongly recommend them for your needs.

My opinion changed during my move out day when I succumbed to dehydration. Cubesmart seems to have raised what temperature it considers to be called “air conditioning.” The temperature outside the units is 80 degrees therefore the temperature inside without moving air gets higher. Also there is only one water fountain in the building areas. I fell in my unit. I my managed to get to the elevator but while filling my water bottle I fainted. Thankfully I had been working with a “Got Junk” crew who happened to find me soon after and help me to recover .
I spoke to management and was told I was being too demanding.

The GM at this location is amazing. Her name is Elisa and she was a Godsend for us. We had a terrible situation happen where we became displaced, and she was a light during our storm and helped us get a storage unit to store all of our belongings and was all around the most positive person when we needed it most.

I had a horrible and degrading experience at the CubeSmart on Washington Ave. I was denied access to my unit on June 3 without warning. The next day, I was told my unit was terminated due to a supposed “odor and bugs,” which I later confirmed myself were completely untrue. I was given only two days to vacate, and a notice was taped to a wall, not even properly delivered.
As a disabled 70 year old senior citizen, I was forced to wait outside in the heat because the manager, Amy, refused to let me wait indoors to settle the matter. My lock was changed without my permission, and I was told I would not be refunded a single penny — even though they accepted my payment while revoking my access. I remained calm and respectful the entire time, yet I was treated like a problem instead of a paying customer.
When I asked for help or to speak to someone higher up, I was given the name and number of a district manager (Brian), who has never returned any of my calls. To make it worse, I was told repeatedly by the manager that I will NEVER be able to lease a unit here again — as if I would want to after this appalling treatment.
CubeSmart claims to value customer service, but my experience was dehumanizing and discriminatory. I would never recommend this location to anyone.
