All storages talk about is market value which in reality is a bunch of cow fertilizer and the only thing a corrupt or I mean corporate representative can say is that market value no more customerservice ...

Do not rent here. Or at least wait until the new ownership has made some massive changes. As another renter noted, our monthly rate increased from $95 to $175 with a month’s notice. They claim that this is “in keeping with market value”. I beg to differ. I am currently moving out of my $175 10x15 unit at LifeStorage and into a $128 10x20 unit at Public Storage less than a mile away. This lifestorage location is old, run down, often the elevator smells of urine and/or smoke, there is usually one cart - if that- and my unit was broken into a month ago. While the nice man in the office says that someone called and left a message about this break in, I have checked my phone records and have no record of such a call. Furthermore, wouldn’t it be a good idea to follow up with an email? A second call? Anything? And when I called to inquire about my rate increase and to tell them that I had found a much better rate for an even larger unit at a beautiful, new, clean facility, not only did they not mention this break in, they didn’t offer to work with me on the price to keep my business after several years. Also! During our move, the elevator got stuck AGAIN which delayed us at least half an hour. Unbelievably poorly run.

This review is for this location only. I have a location in Iowa and the manager is AMAZING. This location is terrible. I got a renewal notice in the mail that my prices are increasing. I wanted to buy 1 year out to lock in my price but they said “the lowest we can go is 50% higher than what you’re paying now.” Greedy, awful, garbage. This location, and this company, should be ashamed. Who can afford an $80/month increase on storage? Will definitely tell all my friends to avoid this place. Just a terrible experience. I miss the days when customer service was alive and well. Now it’s just a screw the customer mentality. Sad.

I've been with this location storing just my seasonal stuff. Management changes quite often, some are great customer service people and then you have the I don't care employees. Well, this time of the year, he was new to me, and had great customer service skills.Thank you, Life Storage

Updated Review (10.25.2023) - Increased from 1 to 3 stars - Editing review based on Corporate holding my rate flat (i.e. they have already increased the rate once this year, but this second time they kept flat and did not increase). I'm not sure how long my rate will remain flat, since this is month-to-month leasing; however, my response to this is Life Storage won't "reduce" my rate as the market softens. We only get notified of increases. If you're doing monthly adjustments, the company needs to consider reductions to rent based on market conditions. This is only fair if we're not going to lock in a contracted rate. It should not be that all benefit (rental increases) is to the side of Life Storage only.Original Review: Buyer Beware - This company offers low introductory rental rates, and then will raise prices (approx. doubling the introductory rate) within 1 - 1.5 years out. Maybe this is a standard practice for these facilities, but this seems to discourage loyalty. Not transparent IMO.

The place is fine except there's very few carts ever available but they close everyday at 8:00 I was there tonight at 7:59 on a Saturday night and my number didn't work. It's like what kind of storage unit has banking hours? Sux

Gate locked 2 hours before 10 pm (like it claims on the website and on Google). Got here at 8:50pm with A TRUCK FULL OF HEAVY FURNITURE and I'm locked out at the gate!! What am I supposed to do now!! Costed me hundreds of dollars and hours of time to go back and forth again and to keep the truck loaded longer. Will never do business with this company again. Not to mention, they charged me before I even signed any contracts.

The manager, Kaven, at Life Storage at Wilcrest is great. This is not about management. When we first rented our space at Life Storage 18 months ago the rent was $271 per month set up on autopay of course. I should have read the fine print but learned after the fact that Life Storage has in the contract they will incrementally raise the rent after 6 months again and again. When I vacated my space two weeks ago I was paying over $400 per month.I spoke to them about this practice and was informed that rent increases are applied for the duration of the rental term. I asked if there was a ceiling...what if someone rents the space for years? Conceivably one could end up paying $1000's in rent according to this model. The storage unit was for our business and we have two elsewhere in the city. As far as I know, this practice of raising rent incrementally ad nauseam is unique to Life Storage - autopay works to their advantage as perhaps there are people like myself who are unaware of the rental increase.
