Lone Star Flight Museum, located at Ellington Airport in Houston, is a notable aviation museum and STEM learning center. It features a collection of more than two dozen historic, commercial, general aviation, and military aircraft, many of which still fly regularly. The museum’s exhibits are both educational and engaging, highlighting the wonder of flight and celebrating Texas aviation history. Visitors can enjoy a variety of experiences, including flight simulators, virtual hang gliding, plane tours, and exploring the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. The museum also hosts special events like Candlelight concerts, which create a memorable atmosphere with low-lit hangers and aircraft around visitors, paired with live music performances. Many visitors appreciate the helpful and knowledgeable staff, affordable prices, and the interactive areas that teach about the physics of flight. The exhibits include aircraft from early years of flying to the mid-20th century, along with interesting shuttle displays and a history hall of fame. For kids, there are fun activities like the MaxFlight full motion simulator. Whether visiting for a couple of hours or an entire day, the museum offers something for everyone, making it a great place for aviation and history enthusiasts, families, and those interested in STEM education.
