I’ve been a client of Michael’s for about three years now, and this last visit was a completely different experience. He seemed disengaged, no interest in the client. I tried to explain the haircut I wanted and was showing him the reference photos, but before I was even finished, he started cutting. I figured he understood.
When I saw the finished result, it wasn’t what I asked for. Since he already seemed uninterested and I didn’t have time to stay and explain, I simply said thank you, looks good and left. The haircut itself was okay, but not what I requested, I ended up having to get it fixed elsewhere.
The lady who washed and dried my hair was amazing. She was friendly, attentive, and made that portion of the experience enjoyable. Her name is Noe, and she was wonderful.
The overall atmosphere of the salon also felt unwelcoming that day, which was disappointing considering I drive over an hour to get there. With the lack of attentiveness, the haircut not matching my request, and the unwelcoming vibe, especially when it wasn’t even busy, with just two clients including myself it simply isn’t worth it.
Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

This salon does a fabulous job—I truly loved how my hair turned out. However, be very cautious when it comes to pricing. I booked a full highlight for $185, which was expected, but the stylist added a gloss without clearly explaining that it would be an additional $125. She simply said, “I’m going to add the gloss now,” without asking if I wanted it or mentioning the cost. Then, there was an extra $65 just to dry my hair. The total came out to $375 before tip, which felt extremely expensive and not transparent. Just make sure to clarify pricing ahead of time!

I felt very out of placed. I’m disappointed because I was excited about finding a new salon within walking distance but I didn’t even make it to the chair. I will not spend my money where I don’t feel welcomed.

Katiana did an amazing job! I've been really let down by several other places who say they know how to cut curly hair, so am very happy to have found this place. Katiana was very personable and gave me suggestions on products/styling tips but there was zero pressure to buy anything extra.

Noe always takes such good care of me. She is a wizard with hair. My hair has never had more volume. She is also a spectacular colorist. Noe is meticulous and takes her time. I always get a ton of compliments after she does my hair. If you give her an inspiration photo she will bring it to life!

Went to see Michael after struggling to find someone who really understands long hair for men. I told him what I wanted and he took the time to explain what he was going to do and how it would complement the shape of my face. He clearly knows his stuff and gave great advice on what products to use and how to use them. I left feeling confident and really happy with the cut. Very welcoming experience and I would definitely recommend.

Katiana is the best!! She helped me with my summer big chop and even help me with a curly routine. I didn’t even know I could do with my hair!!! So sweet. Very professional and kind. Will be back!

I absolutely loved my experience with this company! My stylist was Joelly! She listen to me about wanting something bold but also natural. And volume in my flat hair!! My photos came out amazing. I let her fully make me up! This is not something I do at all so I had so much fun with this experience! I’d post a photo if I could figured it out!

I’ve been getting my haircuts with Katiana for 9 years now, and I can confidently say she’s the best! She’s incredibly professional, always reliable, and such a kind and sweet person. Every time I leave her chair, I feel refreshed, confident, and beautiful. She truly has a gift for making you look and feel your best.
The Michael Saldaña Salon is also a beautiful space, modern, clean, and welcoming. And their coffee and drink bar is the cherry on top! The entire experience is top-notch from start to finish. I highly recommend Katiana and this salon 1000%!

Most people only leave reviews when something goes wrong… but here I am, doing the opposite because Michael Saldana Salon is that good. Actually, it’s that phenomenal. Houston has no shortage of salons, and believe me, I’ve been to more than a few but none compare to the customer service, attention to detail, and personal touch you receive from Michael and his team.
Let me be clear: this is NOT some chain salon with a “next!” vibe. This is where hair is treated like the crown it is. It makes or breaks my day. And Michael? He’s the crown whisperer. He just gets it. Whether it’s a regular refresh, monthly cut or a last-minute SOS for a special event, he listens, really listens, and then delivers magic.
Also… can we talk about how he works with women all day long (and somehow keeps his cool and sense of humor)?! I don’t know how he does it. There’s hardly a guy in sight, and yet he manages to handle high-maintenance hair, last-minute client requests, and the emotional rollercoaster that is a woman in a salon chair with grit, grace, patience, and fabulous taste. 😂
Bottom line: if you’re in Houston and you’re not seeing Michael, you’re doing your hair a disservice. He’s not just a stylist, he’s a unicorn with scissors.

I went in Saturday for a haircut for the first time here. Not going back. The hair cut itself is fine, which is good since he didn’t even ask me if I liked it, didn’t show me the back of it and I had no clue how it really looked until I got home and checked in my own mirror….. they really just made me feel like i was in the way and they were in a huge hurry to just get me gone. Someone else roll brush dried my hair and did zero styling…your hair is dry….get out now. That’s exactly the impression I was left with, which is sad because I was really looking for a new salon in Houston.
Update: Michael reached out as promised and was very kind. I very much appreciate the response and follow up.
