Unprofessional Conduct and Poor Service from Pruitt Prep CPA
The tax preparation service has been okay, however that it only one part of the service agreement which we enlisted this company for. I am now writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the overall services and contract management provided by Pruitt Prep CPA. Our experience with them has been marked by poor professional communication, unacceptable delays, and a blatant disregard for contractual agreements.
Firstly, the company's communication has been appalling. It regularly took over seven days for them to respond to messages about our financial matters. Many communications went unanswered for weeks, causing disruption to our operations. Despite multiple requests for timely responses, the company failed to address our concerns promptly.
Their bookkeeping management has been severely lacking. We faced numerous issues, including inaccurate records and a failure to meet agreed-upon timelines. Pruitt Prep CPA neglected to provide a fair and competent resolution to bookkeeping, and declined our request for our company to hire a previous bookkeeper, at our own expense, with whom our company had a previous successful working relationship. Pruitt Prep CPA failed to display trust and competency to assume the payroll tasks that were part of our contract, citing a flimsy excuse that some companies prefer to manage their payroll independently.
When we contractually requested a change of the contract, Pruitt Prep CPA presented new contract agreements with terms that were in direct opposition to addressing our concerns. Our attempts to come to an updated contract, due to Pruitt Prep CPA’s non-compliance, have been met with resistance. Despite not providing the services as promised, the company continued to charge our account. They charged our account on two separate occasions during contract negotiations. They have since refunded these two occurances. There has been no attempt from the company to replace fees which we were charged for work which they were under contract to complete but did not.
In a further display of poor practice, Pruitt Prep CPA just sent us restructured service plans to include fees for timely responses to communications. They created a tiered system for response times, charging extra for responses within 1-5 business days. This tiered system is unreasonable considering that the working relationship of the roles which Pruitt Prep CPA was contracted to assume (including tax advisor, financial planner, profit analysis by session, payroll administrator, bookkeeper) requires regular communication and sometimes immediate attention.
We have made every effort to resolve these issues, including hiring an intermediary to manage the relationship. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, no resolution has been achieved.
I advise against engaging with Pruitt Prep CPA for your financial needs if you are anything more than a sole service provider. Their lack of professionalism, poor communication, and failure to deliver on their promises have been a source of immense frustration and financial loss for our company.

Contrary to response of this business, we hired this company a year in advance to prepare for our 2023 tax returns. Alan and his team did nothing to create a plan or strategy. We never declined the so called package that this business claimed to offer us because a structured package was not presented to us. Alan's response was, once again, a faux apology that does not accept responsibility for it's failure to provide a proper strategy for us. Nor did this company try to assist us in finding additional tax write offs. I wound up going with another CPA that was able to lower what we owed by $1500.
I was excited to work with this company at first and now I regret ever using this business. We initially went with this company early in 2023 to get guidance on why we owed money after our taxes were filed for 2022. Also, we were opening a new business and needed some additional advice. We hired this company to prepare for the 2023 tax year.
Unfortunately, Alan gave us no guidance on the steps that we should take to prevent us from owing money again this year. There was no strategy created regarding our personal taxes, no dates suggested for us to meet again to work toward a solution. And absolutely no advice on what pitfalls to avoid when it comes to opening a new business.
To make matters worse, the customer service here has gone downhill. The CPA that we were forced to work with, Krystle, was unfriendly and completely unhelpful. She took nearly 2 weeks to get our taxes ready (one week longer than the date she promised she would be finished). And instead of scheduling an appointment she sent us a video with no sound to discuss our taxes. That's not good customer service (which this company claims to have) that's sheer laziness and a way to avoid answering hard questions that customers may have. A video is NOT a substitution for an appointment--- it is a way to avoid actually talking to your customers!
Also, we asked for our tax returns from 2022 and the document that Krystle filled out regarding our 2023 tax year twice and we still have not received them. Instead we were told that we have to pay additional money for documents that we should already have access to and already paid for.
The point of us hiring Alan was to have someone to help us come up with strategies both for personal and business finances. For someone who could guide us even when there might be questions that we don't yet know to ask (hence being new business owners). Instead, we were given no advice to help, received poor customer service and Alan made condescending comments that "you should be more proactive especially when you own a business!" Isn't the point of hiring a CPA (especially when you own a new business) to get guidance on taxes? To create a plan? Hiring a CPA to help guide you IS being proactive --- clearly I didn't hire the right company.
Instead, this company sits back, does the bare minimum then blames you when they failed to provide a decent plan or customer service in the first place. They care more about draining every cent out of their customers than providing decent service or solutions.

I cannot tell you how much Alan and his team have helped me with opening my own business. I knew absolutely NOTHING about owning my own business and even less about taxes related to that! Tammoria has been an absolute LIFE SAVER with letting me ask her a bajillion questions and remaining patient with me. She explains things where I can understand and make sense of crazy taxes and what will benefit me. They offer a LOT of adjunctive support as well. Kenya is holding my feet to the fire on marketing, which is great, because I need it.
LOVE this team! If you're a therapist, don't 2nd guess going with Pruitt Prep CPA, LLC!

I have been disappointed with my experience with Pruitt Prep CPA. A significant error was made on my 2023 tax return, which required an amendment (I have to return the "refund" I was mistakenly given plus the thousands I actually owe) and a yet another mistake resulted in substantial additional costs for me. The amendment has still not been settled, despite me reaching out several times to get it taken care of so that I can sign the necessary documentation and pay my taxes.
Furthermore, I requested assistance with estimating my taxes for next year on several occasions only be to told they will get back to me in a few days. That also has been weeks with no feedback.
While I appreciate the initial effort to explain the error, the lack of follow-through and communication has been very frustrating. Due to these issues, I will be seeking tax services elsewhere next year.

Alan service was excellent several years ago. He hands on and very professional. This year was the worst experience ever. We called and emailed him and his staff with no response. I'm very disappointed with his staff and service.
