Went there for date night to have dinner and then later a show. The staff is pleasant and attentive during service. The atmosphere is cheerful, it's Montrose ; )This review is mixed with detractors. The crab cake was a delicious 10/10.The bottle of Kendall Jackson Reserve cabernet sauvignon was devine. The Capellini w/ olive oil, basil & tomatoes was a 6/10.The Veal Marsala was horrible, tasted like a bad chinese meat and vegetable dish and the marsala sauce a fail. Super disappointed. Our waiter was quick to take it off my bill and I appreciate that. It's time to replace the old silverware. My wife came back from the restroom to say it was very bad and not clean. So I've been to Rivas for brunch and this time for dinner. I'd like to see the restaurant make improvements and for now I'll stick with their brunch.Parking: It's well lit and secure with fencing.Kid-friendliness: Mature environment so kids 12 and under not allowed.Wheelchair accessibility: I saw a ramp.

I had the most amazing lasagna here! The staff was so wonderful. The lasagna was even better the next day! Generous portions, perfectly seasoned and delicious.

Great place to eat. I’ve been here many times and will continue going back. Excellent service, excellent food, and NO DAMN SCREAMING KIDS.Keep it up guys, the people too cheap to get a baby sitter should stay home anyway.

The Rosa sauce is so good. You will certainly have leftovers, no matter how big your appetite may be. The staff is just as good as the food too!

My wife and I have enjoyed this place for years. We tend to come here for a pick me up do to the decorum and memories. Tonight, there was a miscommunication with a server concerning our entrée and it apparently sent this person into a fit. They refused to return to our table all the while serving others. If not for Randy and other servers, we would not have gotten to-go boxes or a check without getting up and asking for it. This ruined our night and made us regret spending money for a night out here. I think the rest of the crew noticed, but we did not get a sorry, or anything .... A huge disappointment.

Pros-Kids under 12 arent allowed-Portions are large-Cute xmas decorCons- The male waiter calls EVERYONE pet names (ex: handsome, babe, etc.)-This place serves you like latin soup prior to meal and the recipes are def not authentic italian-Prices are mid-Bar is super dark

Very unique place. Cool to visit one time. We went during the holidays so decorated adorable. Not pricey at all just surprised at the reversed way the meal came. I'm Italian and cook all the time. Was craving chicken franchise. Very surprised at what I got. I wanted classic style and in the pic is what I got. Tasted ok. Not bad but different. Sauce on the side as well. 3 stars. Nothing to rave about.

Italian food for diners who don’t know what good Italian food really tastes like. If Riva’s charged 20% less for their dinner menu items, I’d be fine with it. It would be mediocre food for a fair price. But since Americans are so easily duped into paying a premium for “Italian” food… well… Riva’s capitalizes on this without actually serving authentic, delicious Italian food. Save your money and go somewhere else. Houston is a cornucopia of wonderful restaurants. Riva’s just isn’t one of those unfortunately.

Now, this place was good. I can say this food had good flavor. It tastes like it was all homemade. I had lamb. Now they only had 3 I wish I could have had more. It was worth it. Check them

Christmas decorations were wonderful. However, the pasta was below average. They had "holiday menu" where every pasta was +$20, protein extra. Most likely will not be coming back.

My mother really liked the place when we came the first time for her birthday 2 years ago and she wanted to come again. We waited for about an hour & a half to be seated despite many others getting there after us, it seemed like they wanted to get the smaller tables in and out quick. The manager was super courteous to my grandmother helping her around the restaurant but our server (older white guy) was lack luster, he started off good but clearly since we were sat super late he wanted to go home. Towards the end one of my sisters became offended when the server loudly said her card declined (it was debt fraud prevention) but when she tried telling him to wait and see why the card was not working he became impatient then after we gave him a new card I heard him turn the corner and say “Jesus Christ” then came back and aggressively gave us the check & card back. When leaving he (server) at least gently pushed by us to rush off. Also no bartender?I definitely will try to have my mother reconsider where she has her birthday next year.

We went there and stayed in line, and they told us we could not take kids younger than 12!!! All sorts of Christmas decorations there like Snowman and Elsa were for adults!!!
