The Salvation Army Jones Residence is a shelter that has helped many individuals and families during difficult times. Over the years, residents have experienced kindness, care, and support from the staff. In the early 1990s, a mother and her children found comfort in a clean, structured environment where staff showed genuine concern and compassion. Similar positive experiences have been shared by others who appreciated the caring and loving attitude of the staff, describing their stay as humbling and supportive. The facility provides food and a comfortable space for those in need, making homelessness a bit more manageable. However, some reviews mention challenges with the resources and programs offered. While there are pamphlets and some assistance, there can be difficulties with caseworkers and accessing additional support, especially for those facing discrimination or systemic barriers. Some residents have expressed frustration over the lack of access to furniture, transportation, employment, and public schools, feeling that the programs do not fully meet their needs or help them achieve independence. Despite these issues, many appreciate the shelter’s role in providing a safe place during times of hardship. Overall, The Salvation Army Jones Residence is recognized for its caring staff and the comfort it offers, even as residents navigate complex social and systemic challenges.
I love this safe place for when in need ❤️ for women and another for men. A safe place man kind.🙏🏾

My Son and I stayed here in 1997 and I helped the Cook Daisy prepare meals every day. It was wonderful to meet so many good friends! Hi to Miss Ramona, Lucy, Daisy, Annette and everyone else.

Years ago my children and I came here and were given a comfortable room of our own, food, and structure. It was clean, the staff were loving and genuinely cared. I will never forget them and what they did for my family and I. It was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
