I use to love going here every Wednesday to take advantage of their 1/2 off sale. Now in days I have notice that they have the racks are full to the point that one can’t go through them. I have to struggle to see what’s on their racks. I’ve been to other thrift store that are way more organized. Wish Salvation Army was as organized as Family Thrift & Volunteer of America.

My recent experience with the Salvation Army was extremely disappointing. I had arranged for a pickup of several pieces of brand-new furniture to donate. When the team arrived, I noticed inaccuracies on the receipt and asked for them to be corrected. Instead of addressing the issue, the manager, Traci, instructed the team to unload everything (in the rain), refuse the donation, and return on a different day.
I explained that I travel frequently for work and would only be available on one other day in the near future. Traci assured me that the new date was booked. However, when I followed up—thankfully—I discovered that no such rescheduling had taken place.
Because of this mismanagement and lack of accountability, I was left with no option but to dispose of the furniture—items that could have gone to people in need.
If your donation involves coordination with this location and Traci specifically, I would strongly advise caution. Her actions reflect a disregard for the mission of the organization and placed unnecessary strain on both staff and donors.

I have been in a lot of Salvation Army thrift stores across the country. This is absolutely, hands-down, the most well organized cleanest, and best smelling Salvation Army I have ever had the pleasure of walking into. I lucked out and showed up on Wednesday and picked up three shirts for three bucks. Evidently, Wednesdays are half-price days on clothing and furniture. Well done, Salvation Army!

If I could give ZERO stars I would. 3/5 I scheduled a donation pickup for 3/12. Shortly after 8am I called on 3/12 for a timeframe for the pickup, the system was down so he said the driver will call when they arrive and I can use the link in the email to track the truck. It said “establishing route”. There was an option to sign up for text updates so I opted in. Around 1pm I called again, still down. Asked if they can call the driver, they said no. Track the truck never updated. Around 4pm, I called, they said the donation center is closed, the system is still down and that I can just reschedule. I made him aware that I’m moving out of state hence me scheduling this days in advance, prior to my departure. Checked track the truck and still hasn’t updated. Logged into my profile and my pick up was supposed to be done between 1-4pm. At 5pm still no pick up. All day not one word from the driver. They finally called at 557pm and he said well your right by us you can come another day out we can pick up another day. My intrusive thoughts kicked in and I hung up because I was over it. I made alternate arrangements because Salvation Army’s pick up service at this location was USELESS.

? This store is located near Downtown Houston, on the Washington Corridor.
? The store has a variety of items for sale ranging from furniture, home goods, a few appliances, clothes, and other items/trinkets.
? The employees are always polite.
? The collections department will accept almost any item you want to donate. Plus, they will write you a receipt.

Cleaned out my late grandmothers house in Houston, scheduled a large pickup 2w in advance. Had a stack of boxes in the garage and furniture inside. The SA drivers did not pick up my entire list of items and didn’t take the furniture. Said they had more trips and couldn’t fit them. I called and was told that the driver stated “nobody pointed out the furniture” although it was made clear both in person and on the written ticket. The agent Jeremy spoke in circles but did not rectify the mistake and instead transferred me to another person who had no knowledge of the issue for a rescheduled date was a month later. No care or desire to rectify their mistake. Will never be a patron of Salvation Army again

I was in the Salvation Army on Washington today, and I watched the employees making fun of a homeless man who was talking to himself. Ironic! As I know that most of the people there are recovering from alcohol and drugs. I'm sure many of them have been homeless and partially insane at times. I know I was 35 years ago when I finally got sober, I thought it was absolutely horrifying. I wonder why they did that if it makes them feel superior to make fun of one of their own... Another human being in need it makes me wonder if they make fun of other people behind their backs very uncomfortable situation.

I love this store, I only visit when it's the 50% off everything. There are some things that are overpriced, but if it's too much, keep looking. If it has a snag or you notice something, let the associate know, they may lower the price ? if it's something simple you can fix, get it! Nice clothes overall. I'm no longer interested in malls. Thrifting is it!

It seems to be a good thrift store. I didn't purchase anything, but I did look around the store. The bikes are priced at Goodwill standards which is for profit and not affordability. Used bikes shouldn't be $200 as that's ridiculous. A new bike would cost that much. A few of the furniture is outdated and not in a vintage way, but at least from the 80s. Some of it looks like pieces from popular furniture stores and they were unscathed. I did see a familiar piece of furniture that is up to date and since all furniture is currently 50% off, they are reasonably priced to sell. The staff are talkers so beware if you thinking you can casually browse without being spoken to. Staff members seem to like to follow you around just to spark up a conversation with you which can be annoying. It happened to my friend and I three times. Twice by one staff member who was strongly trying to convince us to buy an article of furniture and another time by guy who followed us onto the second layer of the store. I even noticed that did it to other consumers as well. The purse and shoe collection appeared to be well stocked with the selection being very nice from cowboy boots, running shoes, to leather engraving purse. Huge store.
