This is the best place to top rope near the Inner Loop. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Boulders were not graded well at all and there were no options for anybody but those on belay lines.

This is a great place. Took the grandson for something new to try. Your training has him going around in no time. He had fun. Next time I would get training as his partner and he could try everything. The staff is great helpful and just an amazing team. The folks who were there practicing were also really caring. Twice someone offered to be his partner to try one of the other walks. This place is a real gem. Take the kids!

While I had a good day's climb here when I visited, I was kind of struck by the lack of any sort of greeting. Usually the gyms I go to, they at least acknowledge you lol.My first visit, I was left standing for around 5 mins while two greeters behind the counter were joking around. Finally a guy greeted me and he did so quite apathetically. Seemed like a very unenthusiastic person. It's been over a month since I visited and I dont think I'll return just because of the bad impression. I would prefer to climb at places where the front facing staff actually shows some level of care for what they are doing. Not caring about providing quality customer service is whatever, but the safety of your visitors is paramount and the chances of that being neglected increase when there is a lack of care and attention. I just wanted it to be known - if you want returning customers and their money, the first impression can make or break it.All that said, the routes themselves are wicked tough and I had a good time!

My son (8) and his friend had a blast yesterday after we stopped in for the afternoon. TRG made sure we were all safety certified and then we got going. I even got verified to belay them so they could do more courses. They had a great time and we're looking into joining the youth climbing team. Thanks TRG for a great experience and new hobby.

Took my elementary school aged boys to climb for the first time and my teen son who has climbed before. The staff was friendly. The gym had several younger climbers that day and the staff was very mindful of their safety while also ensuring they had an enjoyable time. The orientation and belay instructions were clear and the staff observed us practice before we began climbing. Everyone had a great time. The boys liked having both climbing and bouldering challenges they could conquer. Glad I purchased the 2-week unlimited climb option for my older son. We’ll definitely be back.

This gym has gone down immensely. Do not go here unless you want to experience a terrible staff. I enrolled my child in the summer camp experience for a week, thinking it would be alright since my children who have attended preciously have done it before. Clearly, I did not realize that the rock gym had declined in common decency and etiquette. The counselors for the children are teenage kids who have no good manners whatsoever. I dropped off my 7-year old child and when I came to pick her up a little earlier during lunch when I heard a counselor was yelling at all the young children. I believe her name was Erin. My daughter later described her as very "mean" and explained how she heard her foul language such as the f-word and other curse words to other counselors. Another female counselor with, what my daughter described, butterfly tattoos and orange and black hair, had very nasty behavior. She would constantly yell at all the kids, and my daughter explained that even other kids would say that she was the rudest counselor. I am very disappointed at the unprofessional behavior these "counselors" display. My daughter additionally explained that that the only "nice" counselor was a Valeria or Valerie (something similar). It disgusts me to know that I paid so much money to this camp, which once was great, has turned into some teenage hangout club. This is a terrible and disappointing rock gym. I will never go again and advise anyone reading this that they should look for another summer camp for their children.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Texas Rock Gym for my very first climbing experience, and I must say, it was an unforgettable adventure. From the moment I walked through the doors, the friendly and welcoming staff made me feel right at home. One aspect that stood out to me was the exceptional level of service provided by the staff. They were not only friendly but also incredibly helpful and attentive throughout my entire visit. In particular, John, who conducted the safety training, left a lasting impression on me. His thoroughness and attention to detail were commendable. He took the time to ensure that I understood all safety protocols, patiently answering every question I had. John's clear and concise explanations made me feel confident and well-prepared for the climb ahead. The Texas Rock Gym itself is an impressive facility, boasting a wide range of climbing routes suitable for all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner like me or an experienced climber, there are challenges to suit every preference. The staff is readily available to provide guidance and offer tips, creating a supportive environment for climbers of all abilities.I am already looking forward to my next visit to Texas Rock Gym.

This place kinda sucks during the summer, there's children running everywhere without any supervision and you can't climb any routes or boulder. You also NEED a belay partner if you want to climb any of the top routes; with only 3 autobelay devices you're severely limited on what you want to climb. All in all do not recommend this gym to any climbing enthusiasts.

I am a beginning climber and so far, TRG has been lovely! I am not a very social person, so the social part of rock climbing was a challenge for me. Lucky for me, every time I would come in I would introduce myself to the front desk staff who where very easy to talk to and make friends with! I loved to climb with my siblings here and even though at first it seems like a very small gym, I feel like there are more than enough routes to shuffle through there, especially on the top-ropes. I never found myself feeling bored or unfulfilled because of the route options at the gym. TRG staff are also incredibly helpful with injuries, which I haven't seen talked about in these reviews at all. I had a fall from the top of the bouldering wall simply because I overestimated my abilities and ended up fracturing my ankle. The TRG staff came to help me almost immediately, wrapped up my ankle, and sat and talked with me for about twenty, thirty minutes with no rush until I was ready to be escorted to my car. Shout out to Dakota and René for being so kind to me that day! Needless to say, rock climbing is a pretty extreme sport with loads of potential for injury. I feel comfortable returning to climb at Texas Rock Gym once my ankle has healed because I know that if anything were to happen again, I would be taken care of just the same. In the meantime, I have been visiting the workout room a few times a week. The trainers at the gym gave me some guidance on which exercises I could do while not being able to put pressure on my foot (huge shoutout to Alexia!! She worked with me for a few hours after her shift in the workout room to help me out). Overall, the community at the TRG is warm and welcoming and the staff is the most helpful I've ever had the pleasure of knowing! I used to have my birthday parties here as a kid and am just as excited as I was all those years ago to come back and climb.

Went here for the first time with my wife and 3 year old. The 3 year old had a great time climbing in the bouldering area and my wife and I refreshed our belay skills. They didn’t have harnesses small enough for our kid but she is pretty small for her age. The staff spent a while trying to get her into the smallest harness they had which I really appreciated. Great place and family friendly with a relaxed vibe. Will come back.

Very happy with my day climb. The instruction for belay was great and informative. We climbed for about 2 hours. It wasn’t crowded even with a birthday party we still got plenty of climbing. Facility was clean and everyone was nice. I will be coming back. Great value.

Not crowded on a Thursday night. Enough space and walls for any level, any enthusiasm. Nice training class, convenient warm-up gym with foam rollers. This was a fun night, great bonding as we helped each other climb and learn to trust. Will be back when more friends!

We have been going to the Texas Rock Gym since 2005! I just dug through my pictures and found some from before having children! That is how much we love TRG! The staff are always so passionate about what they do and are so eager and enthusiastic about getting visitors to have the most memorable and exciting experience. We now take our 12 and 16 year old daughters and my nephew. They race up the auto-belays, have learned to belay each other, and love bouldering throughout the gym. The gym is spectacular and I love that they have expanded their programming to include so much beyond just rock climbing like Tai Chi, Yoga, and even Acro-Yoga. I can't wait to try that one! I can't recommend Texas Rock Gym enough. You will have a total blast!
