We have been going here for almost 20 years now - back when they were off of Judiway St in Houston. We went to our first informational meeting for homeschool in 2004 in their store. So thankful for the Swirsky family during those early years and glad they have withstood the test of time. We go at least twice a year to take our used curriculum to sell and purchase new things. Love this place!

This store was recommended by my homeschool co-op as they do carry a lot of the books required for my daughter’s curriculum. I called ahead to make sure they had a book in stock, and the lady on the phone was extremely rude. She said “I’ve never heard of that book in my life.” -she didn’t even attempt to look for it. It’s a shame because I love that there is a store in town geared to homeschoolers, but because of the rudeness, I will take my business elsewhere.

The store can be a hit and miss if you choose a less popular curriculum, but overall, it truly meets the needs of Homeschool parents. The walls are lined with used and new curriculum, learning aids, science kits, etc. You name it, they've got it if it pertains to homeschooling. The staff is also very helpful and friendly! After about 5 minutes, I realized I had no idea what I was doing, and 2 different women helped me. This is our go-to for homeschool needs.Be warned though that the building is a dead zone. Cellphones do not work inside.

We've been patrons of The Homeschool Store for years and years. Wonderful selection of curriculum. Great wisdom to share from years of experience. Very thankful for the variety of used resources and books too. Highly recommend! :)

A great location with a huge selection of curriculums. There is a good selection of second hand books too. They have a small play area for younger kids to play in. There are some chairs and tables to sit and look at the books. My favourite books are the usbourne and DK books that make any subject interesting.

Since so many Teacher supply stores have gone out of business, finding this gem is awesome! I teach K-2 Special Education, and we need supplemental materials to differentiate for our students. I am bringing my friend next week, but I told her to keep her credit card at home, LOL, and set a limit before coming! She teaches pre-k. As far as any negative reviews about bringing children, think of this as a library, unless your child is capable of being velcroed to you, not getting bored, ? best advice is to please leave them home. It is not a child friendly environment for active children. I know this is common sense for the majority of parents, but when I see a negative review based on store personnel having to remind caregivers about behaviors, especially in a book store, do not think it should reflect negatively on the store, but on the reviewer. Constructive criticism from a 70 year old employed special education teacher!

A lady was very rude to my son who was just sitting and waiting for me to finish shopping. He tires easily so he wanted to sit and He can not talk and couldn't tell her he was just waiting for me. He was not causing a disruption to anyone. I'm very unhappy with how we were treated. I did not purchase anything and Will not return.

Goid place to browse curriculum but Textbooks are seriously overpriced! Old Textbooks in awful condition are priced as if new. Check Ebay before coming.

Great selection of new curriculum. Used is hit or miss. Helpful but busy staff. The store is very cluttered which makes my anxiety go a bit nuts. Pricing is on the fair to higher side, depending on the item. I think the Houston area is in desperate need of this type of store but sadly I will not be back.

I love the Home School Store!❤ We have been going here for the 5 years we have lived in Houston. They are always friendly, polite and helpful. They have a wide variety of curriculum and books to browse and buy. I love being able to look thoroughly through a book before purchasing. I also like being able to get the books right away instead of waiting for an online order! They have a huge selection of used books that they always suggest looking in, and they also will buy your used curriculum and books if they currently offer those titles in their store! I could spend hours here!!! ??

The staff here is very helpful and has a lot of good information about the various curriculums. They go out of their way to help you find ysedc books if they have them. I love being able to look through the books and get an idea for which ones align with my teaching style. I also appreciate that they do buy back used curriculums.

I recently withdrew 2 of my kids from public school, so this store was an obvious choice to be able to check out curriculum before buying it.The store is difficult to notice, we passed it easily and had to turn around. The inside is pretty cluttered, but there are a ton of options to browse through. What immediately struck me though was how much one employee kept telling people's kids what to do. Don't run, walk, don't go there, you need to stay by your parents. And these are all understandable rules, but it honestly got to the point where if we didn't enter the next aisle in tandem, someone was gonna tell us what to do with our kids. I get that some people probably don't manage their kids well, but it was overzealous in my opinion. It just didn't feel kid friendly, and I specifically brought my kids to help choose what their schooling would look like. I didn't love the strictness of the place. On to what the store stocks, they really do have a great variety of materials to choose from, used & new, plus I like that they'll buy used curriculum/materials back for resale. I wish the store layout was different, but if I spent some time alone in there I'm sure I'd sort it out.I have mixed feelings about this place, I'll probably go back to check out more of what they offer alone, but I wouldn't ever bring my kids back with me. It felt like it was best to have them walk quietly with hands behind their backs, seen but not heard, and that's okay for some, but that's a big part of why I took them out of public school.Definitely check this place out, the options for curriculum and learning materials is almost endless, I'd caution against bringing younger children, but try your luck, it's possible I went on a bad day.
