The Houstonian is simply said, a gem. You feel on a country estate and yet you are in the middle of the city. The grounds are adorned with native plants and spectacular tree specimens (especially the one by the entrance), the pools are great (waddle on one side or go take a swimming lane), the staff is friendly and effortlessly efficient, the rooms are very comfortable and well set up, the restaurant is just perfect with what it does. Nothing too complicated but the food is tasty and well executed. I did not try the spa or the gym but I overheard some people in the lobby raving about it. Let's just say that the Houstonian will be my default destination from here on when in Houston.

Doesn't live up to its reputationThis property is so isolated as to be frustrating. You'll need to get off site via your vehicle or taxi or ride share to do most anything (dining, nightlife, shopping, etc.) as the one food outlet will get old quickly. Walk around and see lots of upkeep needs to be done ... and it's Houston, so there's mold and mildew everywhere. Watch out for getting hassled by the security staff if you appear to wander off the main path, however. Guest hallways are very noisy. Don't let the super-old man who is supposed to be holding the door for you hit you with it ... he's constantly on his phone and not paying attention. Stay somewhere else so you won't feel like you're bothering your host ... and so you can be literally steps away from places to eat and shop and look around.

A heavenly haven for those who seek the peace and solitude of country life in the heart of the city. The Houstionian is in its own little bubble. Once you enter the gates, you leave your troubles behind and ENJOY!!!

Delectable spa choices, updated nail and pool done after the pandemic. The club is still one of my favorite clubs nationwide, nothing comes quite close.

Staff was so efficient and friendly. I had a medical issue with my husband, and they were there to help immediately. The room was always cleaned after each morning, with fresh towels, and bed made. Very comforting!

Booked my wife a spa package here for our anniversary and she said how classy the place was and how kind everyone treated her. Was on the pricier side but for a treat it was worth it. Customer service goes a long way.

I stayed here for a weekend staycation with my husband. It's hard to believe, but we have absolutely no complaints. The hotel is beautiful and is the perfect place to visit during the holidays. Christmas decorations everywhere!Arleen at the front desk was a gem. She sent up a complimentary slice of cake and bottle of champagne because we told her we were celebrating a birthday! The breakfast was delicious at Tribute and the burger from room service was amazing. We got a premier view room and I highly recommend paying a bit more for one. The view was the best part and it was hard to leave the room. We enjoyed it from sun up to sun down. 10/10.
