As you can see from the rating and reviews, Zippy Shell/PODS is a TERRIBLE way to go! I am in the middle of a massive relocation right now. 4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom house in Dallas, moving to Alabama, about 650 miles. I wound up packing 5 Pods. The first two units they delievered to my house did not have a cage like container insiude the enclosed Pod, but thelast three did. I thought they made a mistake sending these cages tro me, but they said that when you are doing a long distance move to aan area they do not serve irectly, they use another company to complete the move, so the cages have to be transfered to a different container. OK, so I packed the first two thinking that I was packing a unit I had full and complete usage of. I also complained thet the cages insiude the Pods in my final three units were ssmaller then, since they fit inside a Pod container - and I was told, "No, the cage is the same sixe as the first two Pods which were delivered to you." But when the Pods I packed arrived at their facility, they claimed they had to use two additional Pods to hold all my stuff, and they are charging ME for THEIR error!!!!!!!!!!!! So now I have to pay multiplre thousands of dollars more for a mistake I had nothing to do with. Now mind you, IF the two Pods initially delievered could hold the same volume of merchandise as trhe cages could, as I was told, why then would it take two additional Pods to pack up the stuff from my first two Pods into new wire cage units? Lie 1. - Same size as original Pods. Lie 2 - You lock the Pod and you alone have a key, so no one else can access your Pod until it is delivered at your location. WRONG! My first two Pods were indeed broken into so they could transfer my property!!!!!!!!! How will I even know if anything was not stolen while they transfered goods? They were not suppossed to access my units at all, according to them. But because they failed to send me the first two units with cages inside, they have added TWO UNITS to my total, which they are now charging me for! NOt only to store, but to move. So now the cost of this move has fone up 40% through no fault of my own and they are holding my stuff hostage saying that if I won;t pay for the extra two units, then I will have to go to their facility and pick up my stuff! Can you imagine????????? ALSO - one of the wire cage units they brought me could not even be locked as the little tiny hole you would put a lock through could only accomodate a LUGGAE LOCK, which is a joke! I had to rig up something with three different padlocks just to try and secure that one unit!!!!!!! (See pics) I was suppossed to be paying about $13,000 for five Pods to be picked up, moved, and delivered in AL. Now I am looking at closer to $20,000!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE, FOLKS!!!!!!! You will trgtry it! Half the stuff they tell you is bologna. You will NOT be the only person to have access to your Pod. They will break in if they desire to do so and tamper with your stuff and then charge you tons more for units you did not initially agree to. It was THEIR MISTAKE, but they are forcing me to pay for their mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sharing this oon every Pod profile I can find as I am not sure which exact office I dealt with and this is a general issue related to the manner with which Pods conducts it's buisness, and not just an issue with one local office or location.

Nice team, and really helped us in a pinch. I do wish some of their process was a bit more standardized though. I thought we would call, or they would call when they were on the way to pick up the trailer. I was a bit shocked when I tried to load up a couple last minute boxes, and the trailer was just gone. Luckily we could go to the local facility and throw the last couple boxes in. All in all, the service is good, and affordable though.

Made a cross country move from VA to TX. Quote process and trailer drop off for loading couldn't have gone better. Worked with the Zippy Shell team in VA to ensure trailer was loaded and on its way in time for the specific delivery date needed. As expected, they couldn't guarantee a specific.date would work unless.there was ample time.for the transport process. I was.told by the VA team that once it was delivered, all I needed to do was call and confirm my date, and 48 hrs notice was more than ample..I followed all of those instructions, had the movers on my end ready to go for that date I discussed with VA team. Called to confirmed the schedule drop off and the soonest they can do it was OVER a week from when I called. And zero customer service. You call the corporate line and they put in requests, but you won't know for 24-48.hrs the outcome. If that date they provide you is different than what was already very clearly worked out, you won't know for 48 hrs. And then, you have to call back and start the process ALL over. If they schedule on a Wednesday and you've been clear it has to be a weekend, guess what, you have to call back and wait maybe 48 hrs. Schedules fill up quickly and I'm now in a new city with no ability to really plan my move, because I'm at the mercy of back and forth. Thus, so are the movers. Take away what the VA team and I worked out, here is what they promise on their website:"Don't worry, your things are just a phone call away. Now that all that stuff is out of your hair, we'll keep it safe in one of our climate controlled and secure locations. Need something back? No problem, just give us a call, we'll have it back in a flash."A "flash" is actually no less than 10.days and you best be available on that 10th day, or it will be another 10.Now I'll have thousands in extra hotel and other costs because they won't honor the original date and also there is no "two day" delivery.Don't bother with Zippy Shell. It's a cool business model, with a great website, they reel you in on the quote side, and then you are on your own. You are better off with the sketchy one truck and a dolly company.

I packed my shell in Colorado and had it moved to Houston and stored for several months. I requested access to it one time in Houston (which I'd been assured I could have at any time with 24 hour notice), but it took three days for them to make it available to me. Now I'm ready to have it delivered to my property for unloading, and I called and requested the date I needed and was told that was fine. Then later I received an email saying they can't delivery it to me locally for almost two weeks after the date I requested. Beware. They are great at getting your unit to you for packing, but once you need your items, you're low priority and could wait for two weeks.

Zippy Shell of South West Houston and the franchise owner Harry Briars was very efficient and professional in arranging the drop off of my furniture in Sugar Land near Houston when it arrived from Arizona. His team arrived exactly on time and were friendly and placed all the items where I wanted with a smile. I shall definitely use them for my next move….. Sensibly priced as well.

This has been the worst move I've ever experienced! This company doesn't care about their customers at all. They gave me a move window of 8-12 and charged me for my storage fee, but no one is here helping me move and they have no answer when someone will be here. I've talked to several people and waited on hold for hours with no answer when my movers will be here. Moving is stressful enough and this company just makes it worse. Don't use them! It is now 8pm and I still don't have any movers!!!! The company has no supervisors to talk to, plus they charge you to cancel the move because it's not within the 10 day cancellation period. THIS IS THE WORST MOVING COMPANY!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!

Worked with zippy shell on a long haul ~1600 mile move and they were great! From coordinating the pickup ( for which I had movers load my zippy shell) to loading up the zippy shell ( very organized, professional and detailed) to getting it in storage for about a months and a half to getting it to its final destination- they were great. Pack rat is part of zippy shell and they worked really well together. The delivery driver in Houston was also great and gave me some really good pointers on what to do now that I reside in Houston. The experience was excellent and I will highly recommend to anyone going through the struggle of finding a loving company.

DO NOT USE!! At first, Harry was very quick to answer phone calls, texts, and inquiries — I wanted to support the small business in Houston cause… why not? I packed my entire house in 4 shells and it was in storage for 5 months. By the time I needed my belongings, it took 3 (THREE) weeks to even get Harry to bring me ONE shell… and then it took a whole WEEK to get my 4 shells.. it’s a one man show and he just can’t keep up, understandable… but then he needs to hire help.He continued to charge me storage fees when I didn’t need the storage anymore — I needed my stuff. I was in an empty house for 3 weeks.. STAY AWAY.

Absolutely Do not use. They change plans at the last second, Increase price when its too late to find an alternative, and then take your storage off to a warehouse and accidentally forget it for 8 days (despite being a point to point move). Then all your contacts will ghost you when you try to figure out where your stuff is and when can you have it delivered.

Was quoted 10 - 14 days for a move and delivery. Beware the quote is from warehouse to warehouse not house to house. We will end up at 6 WEEKS from house to house. Very disappointed. Why can't Zippy Shell get it together? If you are moving to or from the Houston area ask for a different Zippy Shell contractor as there are apparently others.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! The owner, Harry, is rude, mean, disrespectful & his work ethic is laughable. He does not run a good business. He is hard to get in touch with & will not accommodate you. He expects you to accommodate him instead. Will not bring your pod when you want it. When it is delivered he will hound you for when he can pick it back up. Then leave it in your driveway for a week & a half when you tell him to pick it up. We were unlucky & did not pick this company when we flooded. It was picked for us. It took us 3 months to have the first pod delivered & a week for the 2nd. Don’t waste your money on this dirtbag

By far the worse storage experience I've had. Harry does not communicate well and is extremely rude. Poor customer service. They are a sister company of packrat. Packrat doesn't seemed to be concerned about helping the one man team.

They canceled on me less than 24 hours in advance of my move. Completely ridiculous.
