About Headwaters at the Comal
Headwaters at the Comal is a beautiful environmental learning space and a gem in the city, focused on history, nature, and archeology. Visitors can enjoy seeing native plants, some wildlife like curious deer, and the gentle river bend. It is a great place for birding and to get native plants when they go on sale. A current expansion is underway, with much more work to be done, so it is always changing and worth multiple visits to see what is growing and blooming. The site is connected to the Comal River and its history. As a popular place to visit, guests are encouraged to help by donating and to leave it cleaner than they found it.

Beautiful transforming of environmental learning space. History, nature, archeology, being brought into the light! Current expansion underway, but plenty of native plants and some wildlife to observe.

Visited there to view the eclipse. They've done a great job returning the site to its natural state.
