“While I ultimately left without the exact item I needed, I was genuinely blown away by the level of customer service. It’s the kind you almost never see anymore, and it absolutely deserves recognition.
I stopped in looking for a skeleton key for a mid-century china cabinet that’s currently locked. After explaining my situation (including my two-hour YouTube deep dive on picking locks and my struggle to reload an item I had saved on Amazon), the gentleman helping me let me know they no longer carried anything like that. I was ready to give up and accept another win for Amazon.
But instead of leaving it there, he paused, thought for a moment, and stepped away. He came back with an entire lock set and, to my surprise, pulled out a skeleton key. Then, completely unexpected, he told me to run home, test it out, and come back.
I was honestly shocked, but it felt sincere. So I ran out in the rain, tried the key (unfortunately, it didn’t work), and returned to the store. Not only did he kindly take it back, but he went even further by trying to help me find the right key online.
Amazon may win on inventory, but they will never match the level of care, trust, and genuine helpfulness I experienced here.

This is exactly what people think of when they envision small-town Texas and customer service.
