The sales guy I dealt with was nice and the process was smooth but for the over priced car I got , I feel like the detailing should’ve actually been done at the very least . My car is dirty inside and I feel like you shouldn’t have that kind of experience when you buy a car . My car should be spotless inside and it’s actually kind of filthy . They claim they service vehicles but my car is missing a hub cap and has scratches here and there and an exclamation point popped up on the dash just driving 10 min away and saying low tire pressure. I feel like that shouldn’t be happening .

They miss information upon selling my vehicle, has caused me to sleep on the streets of Dallas, Texas for several nights running. If you are trying to get out of a domestic abuse situation, and you are looking for any help or compassion, or you care about the issue of domestic abuse,do not patronize this corporation. Not this location and not another.

Unfortunately I was mislead by the dealership after getting an offer on my truck. They said the windshield needed to be replaced which I took care of. I was shocked when I went to another carmax and they informed me that the windshield did not impact the offer. As a result I wasted my time and money. Very disappointed in carmax as past experiences have been great.

The people were pleasant. However, I was there for over 3 hours for a transaction that should have taken up to one hour.

As a return customer that previously had an exceptional experience at this location back in 2021, I had an “ok” experience this go-around. My salesman was very pleasant to work with. My issues were with the quality of the vehicles and my experience as a whole.
The first vehicle I test drove was a BMW that was shipped over from Irving. I was advised there was a delay for me to come in and see it so they could reset the maintenance light on the dashboard. When I came in to test drive, the ladies at the business office weren’t unfriendly; but not friendly either. They seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than providing customer service. As far as the vehicle, the same maintenance light was displaying on the dashboard. Also, the brake performance was inconsistent and there were noticeable scuff marks on 3 of the 4 rims. Small things, but enough to turn me off from the vehicle.
I started looking elsewhere and a competitor cautioned me against purchasing from CarMax because they “don’t service their vehicles.”
I can’t say that I disagree. I came back and test drove a Buick encore; which I ended up purchasing.
The vehicle got an exterior wash but the inside was not cleaned at all. (I had to come home and clean the interior.) I drove it home and noticed there was a burning smell coming from under the hood. Within 2 weeks of having the vehicle (and driving it about 4 times total), the maintenance lights (oil change and replace the engine filter) started lighting up. It’s very disappointing to me that these things were not taken care of prior to my car purchase. Because CarMax service is closed on the weekends, I now have to take off of work to bring the car in to have these items addressed. For someone that had a very demanding work schedule, this is a bit of an inconvenience.
Overall, this time around felt more like a rushed cattle call, instead of a pleasant car purchasing experience. When compared to my last experience, it’s noticeable that the attention to the details (properly prepping the car for sale), are no longer. I’m curious as to the CarMax inspection process because the things I have to bring the car back in for seem like they should’ve been addressed before I took the car home.

Did not accept to finance with ITIN but the phone sales woman told me it would be acceptable. I got the same car in another dealership in better price.

I reserved a 2015 Ford edge last week, the salesperson contacted me to go over my finance application I got approved. Now here where the unprofessionalism starts he didn't add my full name on the finance application, and didn't ask for my ID/Driver license info. Wednesday evening a rep from the CarMax in Plano telling me he had to resubmit the finance application due to the call center rep didn't get all the information he was supposed to get but didn't, so they ran my credit information twice all because CarMax didn't do their job correctly. I had to call the insurance company to get a refund because he stated to me over the phone I needed this before I got the car. The company shipped the car before checking all the required documents, this company been giving me the run around since Wednesday, and now they won't hold themselves accountable for their wrong unprofessionalism doing. I advise customers go to another dealership, and what I'm seeing the reviews on "CARMAX" they are known to do this!!!!!!

Horrible bait and switch done. Purchased Amg Mercedes. Upon inspection of vehicle found some damage to sunroof. Informed salesmen who got the detailing team to try and get out damage. They were unsuccessful in doing so. Salesman informed to have service done and bring receipt. Told I would not accept vehicle with damage due to putting down $10,000. Told me no worries, just bring the receipt after having detailed. Salesman’s never followed up for months. When doing books for the year discovered receipt and reached out. Now they are refusing to reimburse me cause their salesman didn’t put notes or follow up. Now customer care team same result. Told would have resolution with 24 hrs and today was told they can’t honor 8 days later. Hate that I put that $10,000 for a car that needed immediate care and now stuck holding that bill also. They apparently don’t have the ability to go back on cameras. Offered me nothing to rectify. Wants a receipt off letterhead for car wash lol. Classic bait and switch practice. I will never do business here again or send referrals. Make sure the put in writing which I know. But was rushing to work after waiting for them to detail vehicle.
Ended up talking to Billy Thomas the GM. Great guy who actually reach out to me. And made things right. I appreciate you going above and beyond Billy!

My experience with CarMax is mixed. I recently sold my car to them, but the process had some frustrating moments. The customer service was slow at times. For example, when I arrived, an employee took my car for appraisal and mentioned it would take about 30–40 minutes. I agreed and decided to browse the lot for a potential new car while waiting.
However, I quickly realized that all the cars on the lot were locked. There were a few vehicles I was interested in checking out, but I couldn’t look inside. I had to go to the front desk to request someone to unlock the cars for me. They assured me that an associate would help, but I ended up waiting another 30 minutes before anyone approached me.
By that time, my car appraisal was already complete, and I had decided to sell my car to CarMax. The transaction itself was quick and smooth, but the waiting and lack of accessibility dampened the experience.
I used to live in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I had a much better experience with CarMax. The customer service there was excellent. They allowed me to explore the interiors of the cars freely, which made it easy to find something I liked. Being able to look inside helps me decide if I want to take the car for a test drive and then ask an employee any questions I might have.
My suggestion is to keep the cars unlocked so customers can easily explore the interiors. This would make the shopping experience more convenient and engaging. If customers can fully check out a car they’re interested in, they’re more likely to move forward with a purchase rather than waiting around unnecessarily.

I recently bought a car for my wife, but unfortunately, it had some issues just two days after I purchased it. I reached out to Kim Rhodes, and she was incredibly helpful. She promptly arranged for a loaner car and is currently inspecting my vehicle. I really appreciate Kim’s exceptional customer service.
