“This was a very private part of my life and not many people knew about it, but I recently saw updated pictures of the baby I placed for adoption and I’ve never seen a happier looking child. It made me realize that if sharing this helps even one woman who feels scared, overwhelmed or lost during an unexpected pregnancy then it’s worth talking about.
When I found out I was pregnant my stomach dropped. I never wanted kids. I don’t hate kids, I just never wanted to be a parent. I felt completely alone and had no idea where to start. I searched everywhere trying to understand how adoption worked while pregnant, what happened after placement, whether adoptive parents stayed in contact and how to know if I was making the right decision.
I called a lot of agencies and most of them felt cold and transactional. This agency felt different from the very first phone call.
At the time I was struggling financially, dealing with possible eviction and trying to survive pregnancy at the same time. I didn’t want to feel like an incubator. I wanted support and stability and people who actually cared about me too.
The day I called I hadn’t even eaten and they helped me immediately. Jenifer drove down to meet me in person, showed me adoptive family profiles and never made me feel rushed or pressured. When I saw the family that adopted my son I knew they were the right fit.
Throughout the pregnancy they helped me with housing, food, pregnancy clothes, medical bills and just making sure I was okay. They answered the phone when I panicked and they never disappeared after placement either, which was one of my biggest fears after reading other birth mom stories online.
One thing people do not talk about enough is postpartum after placement. Your body still goes through everything physically and emotionally but you don’t bring a baby home. That’s hard in its own way and I’m grateful I wasn’t alone during it.
I know adoption is different for everyone, but for me this ended up being one of the best decisions I could’ve made for myself and for him. He looks deeply loved, happy and cared for and that gives me peace. I’m really grateful I found this agency because it took me a long time to find people in this space that felt genuine.”
“They bought each of my children a Christmas gift. I’ve been coming here for almost a decade and I’m grateful for this local support that helps keep families fed throughout these hard times.
Everyone helps each other here and I’m grateful to have found a such a amazing support system”
“Fabulous Goodwill. Super clean and organized. Staff is so nice and helpful. I scored with some great treasures. The store is so much more organized, clean and put together than most good wells. I'm a frequent shopper.”
“Honestly sometimes I find stuff, sometimes I don’t. But the staff at this location are always very kind and keep the store pretty clean and organized compared to the other goodwills in the area”
