I am writing to express my concerns regarding recent interactions with the Rosenberg Animal Shelter, particularly in dealing with cases involving AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS.Over the past week, there have been alarming incidents involving two vicious dogs attacking cats and posing a threat to both residents and pets in the area. Unfortunately, my attempts to address this matter with the shelter have been met with challenges and an apparent lack of seriousness in handling such cases.Upon contacting the shelter, I was informed that they prefer to handle these situations directly with the owner of the animals involved. Moreover, I was advised that if I am not the owner of the aggressive dogs, there is no merit in reporting the issue, a stance that seems counterintuitive to the safety concerns at hand.Regrettably, the shelter's responses to the incidents have been dismissive, with explanations such as blaming pet owners for leaving their cats outdoors. Furthermore, the very Director of the Shelter 'Omar Apolio ' hanging up the phone while i was mid conversation is an issue, with the explanation given being an overwhelming volume of calls, despite social media posts suggesting they will be gone for events just minutes after. It is disconcerting to note that the situation STILL persists, with the dogs still freely roaming the area, posing a continued threat to the safety of children, adults, and other pets. I believe that the gravity of the situation necessitates urgent and effective intervention. Crazy to think people really don't care about their jobs and do it for a check.

We adopted our kitten this week and everything was wonderful. Mindy was amazing at communicating and making the process very easy. Our dog was also adopted 2 years ago and with her having a skin issue they were very transparent in the possible risks of taking her. Both of our experiences were great!!

We adopted a kitten from here about 2 weeks ago. We were told he was “around” 8 weeks old. We brought him home and everyone agreed he looked smaller than an average 8 week old kitten. I bought him the same food they were feeding him at the shelter and he would eat little bits but throughout the 1st week. He would cry and cry and cry and I was told it was normal for a kitten to cry so I didn’t worry about it. By the beginning of the 2nd week he wasn’t eating at all, but was trying to drink the milk from my baby’s bottle so I called to make sure he wasnt still supposed to be drinking milk because I would have bought him kitten formula but was told he had been eating fry food prior to me adopting him. So I called another shelter to get advice they told me to incorporate wet food so we did. He was eating more so we thought everything was great. We were actually supposed to be taking him back for his shots here in a few days. Well today we woke up and unfortunately our kitten had passed away over night. We called an emergency vet clinic to see if there was anyways we could take him in just to see if they could find a reason as to why. As soon as he was taken in they confirmed he was pretty much starved to death and shouldn’t have been eating any sort of dry food. Even after I was told that he was perfectly fine eating the fry food he just needed time to “warm up” to the new place. So I will never I’m my life come or recommend this place ever.

There are some lazy folks working here. They are so unhelpful when you bring in a animal. They made me go back and forth across the street to return a lost dog.If you see someone trying to help an animal out, and you work for a animal shelter... I'd expect you to help me. Not sit in a chair and shrug. They told me to leave the dog where I found it.. it did not make sense to me. Do you want the animal to get ran over?Whoever manages this place should be aware. Employee individuals that can do their job right and show compassion.

They were all very friendly and helpful. We adopted a cat named Ra after fostering. We fell in love with him right away.

We adopted our kitten from the Rosenberg animal shelter during an adoption event and while the staff working for the shelter were friendly we unfortunately received false information from the foster at the event. I'd noticed the kitten's eyes were watery and asked about her health condition and the foster said she was in "perfectly good health" to which the other staff did not disagree, however it was clear after bringing her home that she was very sick. The past month has been multiple vet visits and hundreds of dollars for respiratory infection, parasitic infections causing diarrhea, and ringworm (which we now need to disinfect our whole house for and make sure will not spread to us or the kids. Spores can remain infective for over a year and a half!). The veterinarian said these infections were all likely caught from her care prior to adoption and I find it very hard to believe the foster and staff were oblivious to these issues. While I understand the foster is being "helpful" caring for the animals and working with the shelter I do not believe families should be lied to in order to encourage adoption.**Let me add that my youngest did end up with ringworm that had to be treated for 8 weeks to get rid of. Be cautious and purchase pet insurance prior to bringing home an animal from this shelter. We spent well over $600 out of pocket in vet bills to treat the issues our kitten had which insurance considered preexisting.

I appreciate that the facility is no kill, BUT how about not punishing people for trying to help keep animals off the street. A $35 fee for bringing in an animal is absurd. If you are going to rob the good Samaritans of the feeling of doing something good, then, at the very least, EVERY employee should be REQUIRED to communicate details of intake hours, fees, rules, etc. to every person when they call in. Don't assume a person who has rescued an animal from traffic has had time to sit and read through all the small print. So many dogs are being dumped, and it is a sad thing to have people who are trying to help be treated like common criminals when the person who dumped them just walks. Truly disappointing.

My family and I were looking for a dog and from when we walked in they were so friendly! You can definitely tell that they love animals and their job. I 100% recommend this animal shelter for anyone looking for a dog or cat! :)

We were paired with our perfect dog. We loved our experience. The staff was kind and so were the volunteers. Penny (shelter name Cher) is always brings us lots of laughs, and is always ready for an adventure! When we’re ready for another dog we will for sure be coming back.

I brought my baby in here to get spayed and they told me that they would have to clip her ear. The only reason I came was because I was told it was free over the phone. I wish they had specified that this was a TNR program where they would have to their ears clipped before I drove there. The lady in the front with the curly blonde hair was really short with me almost bordering on rude. That’s her business. All I know is that you should through fully inform people. Especially since I called twice. Not everyone knows of this program. I didn’t.

If I could rate them lower I would. You absolutely should not be charging people to surrender their animals. I brought up the point over the phone and "the manager" made a very inappropriate comment about how I live in a apartment and that I'm not actually paying the tax dollars. I took my business elsewhere and paid a lower fee, got better customer service, and didn't get profiled. Did I mention that?
