“We were in town and decided to stop at Period Modern on our way home. The pictures shown on Yelp intrigued us and that proved to be an understatement. There is so much in the store; you truly need to go through two or more times to get a true feeling of the beautiful and varied inventory. The sales people will readily answer questions and not hover as you explore. We could not have been more pleased with our finds and look forward to returning soon.”
“Free admission on a Thursday and we had the place to ourselves. So much culture captured in one gallery. I learned so much and enjoyed while visiting San Antonio. Location surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants and even close parking and close to the highway.”
“Such unique items throughout the store! I found a piece of traditional Mexican pottery (still functional) and hand made glass earrings which I've received many compliments for. They have many different items that arr worth going through to find what you love. I have been and will be back!”

“After reading the previous negative review from Margarita I was hesitant to apply for membership, but I kept reading more reviews and saw the gallery had 175 River Art Group members. That’s a lot of people getting approved for membership to be a scam. I really wanted to be a displaying member so I visited the gallery and spoke with 3 nice members working for “free” that day. Doing my homework before applying was helpful. I put 3 of my paintings in nice frames, did not use saw tooth but instead wire that the ends were secured with tape and applied for membership. I WAS ACCEPTED for mixed media. I’ve enjoyed my membership and sold some of my artwork. I recently applied for a 2nd media, jewelry and again I WAS APPROVED. Please don’t let one person’s negativity prevent you from applying.”

When I buy the pieces, they print out all the info on the art and provide with the purchase. Their store is so pretty and the staff is very friendly. They have very cute peeker decals and MANY stickers from Texas artists. I love it, same feeling as going through artist alley in San Japan but available all year ?”

I was having a hard time finding the same size and quality as what I had purchased at this store years before. So, I sent an email asking if they still sold them (I live halfway across the country). The Little Studio Gallery was a great find. We met one of the artists, Ronney Stevens and his grandson. Ronney was so very pleasant and chatted with us during our visit. He had some fantastic pieces of art and was happy to explain them to us. His love of the art and people were highly evident. He is a man with a huge heart and talent. I got my mother a blue bonnet pressed glass that had a story. Also 40% of the sale went to the soup kitchen. Depending on what you get depended on tbr price, but there was some very nice art.”

“If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience in San Antonio, look no further than Caliente Hot Glass! My wife and I recently took a class to make glass ornaments, and it was hands-down one of the most fun events we’ve ever attended in the city.
The studio is run by a powerhouse duo. Glen is a spectacular teacher and a truly gifted artist; he makes the complex process of glassblowing feel accessible and exciting. Ruth is wonderfully warm and inviting, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Seeing the two of them work together is a treat in itself—they are perfectly in sync, which makes the entire lesson flow smoothly. We walked away with the most beautiful ornaments and can’t wait to come back for another class. Thank you, Glen and Ruth, for such a great day!”
