“I cannot recommend this vet enough. They are so thoughtful and kind to my dog that has a lot of vet anxiety. Their prices are also incredibly reasonable. I think the main selling point to me is how clearly they all truly care about the pets. My dog went in for a teeth cleaning recently and I was so nervous to drop him off and for them to use anesthesia on him, but the staff was so kind and they provided updates throughout the day. I was also able to pick him up around 1:30 so he didn’t have to stay all day. I’m so happy I was able to find such a great vet, and I’d recommend them to anyone!!”

“Dr. Rivera and the staff here have been wonderful with my dog’s acupuncture sessions. They always do their best to make sure my anxious 12 year old dog is as comfortable as possible. I thought Pippin would be too scared to get acupuncture but he’s been doing great with his weekly sessions for the past 2-3 months.”

Both cats were handled with care and the older cat was euthanized very gently and compassionately. We have been bringing out cats here for over 20 years now and have always been treated well.”

“I can't thank Southwest Vet enough for their incredible help on Monday morning. My dog was experiencing a terrifying bowel obstruction emergency, and they were willing to change their schedules and find a spot for him. From the moment I called, their staff was compassionate and efficient. They got us in immediately, and the veterinary team was absolutely fantastic.
They explained the treatment options clearly, and provided top-notch care to my furry kid. Throughout the whole ordeal, they were reassuring and supportive, which made a stressful situation so much more bearable. “Dr Rob has taken care of my cat's teeth for the last 5 years. She had 6 teeth removed in the years before we adopted her, but since Dr Rob started cleaning her teeth she has had no teeth removed. His office is a bit of a drive for me, but I would not take her to anyone else. Dr Rob is an excellent vet and I highly recommend him.”

“Really appreciated my visit with Dr. G! My dog has had health issues since we got him, so in the last 3 years, I’ve learned a lot on how to manage his issues. By the time we switched services to T&C, we’d already tried everything. Even so, I still learned a few new things from Dr. G, got great advice on other things to try, and I loved how she didn’t rush through our appointment. She also suggested advanced next steps but was quick to tell me we aren’t there yet. That helps me as a pet parent plan for what might be to come in the next few years.
Also, as a pet parent with a dog that needs to be on consistent (expensive!) prescription medication, I also appreciated them suggesting ways I can save money on his pills. That’s not something a vet and vet tech usually tell me unless I specifically ask.
Glad I switched and looking forwards to many more years with T&C!”

“If we lived closer now, Zeek the GSP, would only go there. I entrusted HCAH for years with my fur babies until we said goodbye to them at 15 & 18 years old.
When Zeek got a cough and I wanted him to be seen asap. His vet close to us (we adore) just couldn’t fit us in. Sitting on 360 southbound then northbound on a late afternoon should tell pet owners how much I trust them. “Dr Gregg Farmer is the best. We took our 12 year old cat Bogie to a vet that was located closer to our home bc he was losing a lot of weight. They did all sorts of tests and removed some bad teeth but he didn’t improve. Took him to Dr Farmer for second opinion and found out he was diabetic and had thyroid issues. We changed his diet per Dr Farmers instructions and out him on thyroid meds and he’s now back and healthy running up and down the hallway again. The other vets office charged me a lot of money for tests (and retesting) which they did “in house” but they never recommended anything or said blood results showed any problems. They didn’t really know what the problem was and said “we will just keep monitoring”
Our family has been going to Dr Farmer for years- he’s a super vet - really really knows the science of animals and animal medicine -we tried new vets after a move but we will be staying with Dr Farmer going forward. Highly recommend him.
November 2025 update!
Dr F is back in Austin and we are so grateful. Our older cat has special needs - diabetic , thyroid, blindness from detached retina, and sometimes recurring sinus bacterial infections and Dr Gregg Farmer and his team at the Animal Medical Center of Austin has been right there to give us great veterinary advice expertise and guidance. Our goal is to keep our cat happy and comfortable as long as possible. He’s doing really great and is happy and enjoying his little cat life with our family. We couldn’t do this without Dr Farmer’s years of veterinary practical excellent experience. Truly the best vet we have ever been to. Highly recommended.”
