“If your car’s having a mid-life crisis or your tires suddenly decided they’re done with this whole “holding air” thing, Goode’s Texaco in Van, Texas is the place to be. It’s part tire shop, part gas station, and part local gathering spot where folks come to swap stories while waiting on their flats to be patched.
The Good:
• Fast Service: These guys work quicker than a squirrel on an energy drink. You pull up with a sad, deflated tire, and before you even finish contemplating the meaning of life (or at least whether you need a new set), they’ve got you patched up and rolling again.
• Fair Prices: No “big city” tire shop upcharges here. You’ll get honest work at honest prices, which is harder to find these days than a gas station with clean restrooms.
• Small-Town Vibes: Everyone knows everyone, and if they don’t know you, they will by the time you leave. Whether you need air in your tires or just a good conversation about last week’s football game, you’re covered.
The Not-So-Good:
• Waiting Area? If you’re looking for a fancy lounge with free Wi-Fi and lattes, you’ve come to the wrong place. Here, the waiting area is your truck bed, a curb, or a friendly chat with whoever’s also getting their tires fixed.
• Mystery Inventory: Need a tire? They’ve probably got it. Need something specific? Well, you might just have to take what they have in stock. But hey, beggars (and people with flat tires) can’t be choosers.
• The “Surprise Tire Tax” (a.k.a. Your Own Poor Luck): If you came in expecting a quick patch but walk out with two brand-new tires and a lesson about tread wear, that’s on you. They’ll tell you the truth, even if it’s not what you wanted to hear.
Final Verdict:
Goode’s Texaco is the kind of place every small town needs—fast service, fair prices, and mechanics who actually know what they’re doing. Just don’t expect luxury seating or a gift shop.”

“Brookshire’s Fuel Center
Pulled in on fumes—gas light blinking, but confidence fully topped off. This wasn’t just a pit stop. It was a moment.
Card swipe, unleaded, pump humming like it believed in me.
Inside, I grabbed a Yoo-hoo from the cooler. Cold, nostalgic, perfect. The clerk gave me a nod—fellow traveler energy.
Back in the car, engine purring and chocolate drink in hand, I rolled out like I had a mission.
Brookshire’s Fuel Center—where petrol meets quiet confidence, and Yoo-hoo fuels the soul.”

“This is another home town favorite place to stop. I used to stop there every morning on the way to work. Great service, great food and the owner is always there, happy to help in any way.”

“It's a popular stop in the morning on the way to work. Has been for over 30 years. Has switched owners and maybe lost some of its appeal. Still it's on the way to and from work.”

“Spent the night in our RV. Nice location, several restaurants nearby. ONE PROBLEM...we could not dump our holding tank in the communal dump because the combo on the lock is not correct! Even the cashier tried! I hope this gets fixed. Now we have to find another place to dump! Please fix LOVE'S!”

“Just a regular guy that doesn't drive a truck, I use Love's when camping on the road for showering. The shower here had excellent water pressure, and shower #1 was clean. The store also had the drinks I wanted. A+ Love's as always!”
“This is always my favorite stop when I am traveling on I20. The bathrooms are always clean. I grab a Starbucks and snacks. The employees are always kind and go out of their way to help me. They also have great gift items or stocking stuffers. And I always get my car air fresheners here.”
