I've been taking my amps to Ben 1-2x a year since about 2016 for routine maintenance and my gear has not failed in the studio or on stage since he began servicing my gear.It's important to support local music businesses, especially in Austin. Based on the brand, size, and age of the TV, the gentleman on the phone was able to diagnose the likely problem (a broken backlight), quote me for the repair, and recommend that buying a new TV from a better brand would be a much wiser investment, since my current TV would likely have the same problem down the road.One quick phone call answered all my questions & gave me great, actionable advice. “My AT&T trade-in was an outrageous nightmare. An insane racket. I’ve never felt so much rage nor such a sense of injustice while playing the game of capitalism-themed Monopoly. Long story, no one cares. Think hunger games irl.
Anyway, the team of these guys at Oltorf & S 1st were so sweet and so helpful and worked with me over like 4 visits and 30 days to help me fight those demons. They were my lighthouse in the storm. 10/10 recommend.

“Ricky deserves 5 stars—he was pleasant, careful, efficient and obviously knowledgeable. But the ability to communicate before he got here deserves 1 star. An email from Sears Appliance Repair this morning told me to expect Ricky between 7:25 AM and 8:57 AM, and it said that if there were a delay in his arrival, I'd be notified. At 9:30 AM, when Ricky hadn't arrived, I got worried that he wasn't coming, so I called Sears Home Repair to ask if he'd been delayed, and if so, how long. It was impossible to reach a real person to talk to, which was very annoying. At around 10:45 AM, Ricky called to say he was on his way and would be here in about 35 minutes, which he was. I would have liked to have received the notification of his delay, as your email said I would get, but didn''t. And I would have liked to be able to check with a Sears rep on the phone when Ricky wasn't here during the window Sears sent me this morning.”
“We were visiting from out of town and my son’s older iPhone dropped. The phone was greenlining. Anthony helped us diagnose a damaged iPhone. He spent a lot of time troubleshooting to find exactly what was wrong with it. The issue was not just a cracked screen, but also the camera assembly, but he got it mostly functioning, so my son could use until he finds a new one. Much appreciated!”
“I stopped in for some help with an aging iPad which I, as an experienced albeit behind-the-times electrical engineer, assumed needed a new battery. Taylor took special time to look it over and show me various error-reporting functions and showed me that a battery replacement was not actually needed. He also advised me on likely issues and best repair strategies for my other mobile devices. Taylor impressed me with his knowledge and with the way he was able to explain it.
This is the best experience I have ever had when dealing with mobile electronics. When I need service in the future this establishment will be my very first call.”
