The day before, we tried to rent a trailer. When I first called U-Haul, the automated system directed me to book online and said it would text me the app. I waited 20 minutes and never received the text, so I searched for the app myself. After spending another 30 minutes navigating the reservation process and declining countless add-ons, I finally completed my booking.

When I went to pick up the trailer at a neighborhood U-Haul dealer inside Ace Hardware, they could see my reservation but couldn’t complete it. After nearly 50 minutes of trying, the very kind manager suggested we cancel the reservation and start over. Since they only had one trailer available, I didn’t want to risk losing it. To make matters worse, online cancellations aren’t processed immediately—it took about three hours before I finally received confirmation that my reservation had been canceled.

The next day, we went to a main U-Haul located in Bountiful Utah. Ann wasn’t sitting behind a desk—she was outside showing another employee how to repair a trailer. As soon as she saw us, she apologized for the wait, walked us to the front desk, and had our rental processed in about 15 minutes. She then personally showed us where to pick up the trailer, helped connect it to our truck, made sure everything was secure, and sent us on our way.

To call her service remarkable would be an understatement. I assumed she was the manager because of her confidence, knowledge, and professionalism. To my surprise, she wasn’t. She told us she has worked for U-Haul for seven years, and it absolutely shows.

Ann is one of the most knowledgeable, professional, and customer-focused employees I have ever met. I own an art studio, and if she happened to teach art, I would have asked her to come work for me! Employees like Ann are the reason customers return. She turned what had been an incredibly frustrating experience into an outstanding one.
