Monticello Liquor Outlet, established in 1954, is the only liquor store in San Juan County, Utah, one of the state's largest counties. Originally opened by Jim Pipkin, the store was run by his wife Katie after his passing, and later by their son Fritz. Since 2012, current owners Nichole and Don have managed the store, which has become a helpful resource for travelers and locals alike. Located right across from the Visitor Center in Monticello, the small but well-organized shop offers a surprisingly wide selection of beverages, including beer, whiskey, and champagne. Visitors often find the staff friendly, helpful, and courteous, appreciating the clean environment and reasonable prices. Despite its limited size and selection, the store is considered a convenient stop for those needing drinks in the area, especially given Utah’s strict liquor laws and the lack of nearby options. Many travelers rely on this store as a landmark or a practical solution when passing through Monticello, making it a valued part of the community.
Ask the owner behind the counter, what do have he says and points, this and that. Made me laugh, great place to by your cold snacks

This place is small but well organized with friendly staff. It is the only place you can get a drink in about 100 miles and surprisingly the price is very reasonable.

I mean what can I say, it’s a shoebox size liquor store with a gem of a guy running the joint.
