“Terrific art, fitting quiet modern music. Nice location though limited parking. The building could use a refresh, the weather hasn't been kind to the facade and railings. Lucy was kind enough, if not warm. I feel that some people are simply quirky and we need most all types in this world. I enjoy coming here every time.
If I had the budget I would snap up some of these beautifully crafted paintings.”
“I lived here for the last decade and loved it!! Staff was always nice to me and the maintenance was always on top of everything. Only issues I had with the building were lots of small floods from old piping breaks. But I think this is due to how old the building is. maintenance has done a good job and repairing them as they happen. The floors in the building are beautiful concrete floors giving it that new york industrial look but with concret comes small cracks and if neigubors above u decide to use to much water mopping.... u get a lil suprise on your furniture. Also, I dont mind homeless finding a place to sleep but the fact they use our breezway as a toilet and garbage can is kinda gross. So every other day u step out and smell urine and poop but they have other exits u can take away from that area. Ive seen a security guard from time to time but rarely.... and last but not least I did have a huge issue with the fact that a skate park opened up within the building (literally 30 feet from some of the rooms) bringing lots of skaters and noise but that ramp was taken down recently and the skater issue has slowly vanished. Although there is still a skate shop so u have the occasional skater. Other than those two issues stated before that the rooms are amazing and very unique!! 10 to 15 foot ceilings of concrete that give it a cool industrial look. I had a studio apartment but it could very well be called a 1 bedroom with all the space they had! Ur a block from Pioneer park that is under a huge promising renovation!! Close to just about everything!! Trax is a block away. Most the tenants are very nice and kind. Maintenence is very kind as well and good at taking care of issues and following up. The managment is very kind as well and are usually very good at replying to emails and calls. They have laundry room on site thru Pay Range and they charge $2.25 for wash or dry. I love that mailboxes are within the building and protected so packages are usually very safe and they have a luxor box for more package security. They have garden plots in the back they rent out in the summer and we enjoyed doing that one year. Pets are welcome!! Lots of wonderful dogs in the community. All in all its a good place to live!!”
“This is exactly what Salt Lake needs more of! Love the environment, love the clothing, and the art is exceptional. Wide selection of streetwear, skate supply and art materials. The customer service is great, I love to see locals representing the 801. You will leave here feeling inspired, it’s a breath of fresh air during these challenging times. Will definitely be back for the next art show!”
“I really enjoyed my experience at Commercial Art and Frame. The owner, who works alone, does not come in early and likes to have appointments for leaving art and choosing frames, as well as picking up the finished pieces. She was willing to work with me when I was coming in late, and she spent two hours with me while I chose the frame. The finished framing was phenomenal, although I tend to pick expensive frames and add extras. Laurie, the owner, gave me good advice and was at the same time very supportive of my taste. She even sent for more samples since I wanted a green frame. Unfortunately, when I left two paintings, one to hold for the new samples to come in, and one to put the other frame on, she put the frame on the wrong painting. Fortunately, it looked good and she gave it to me for cost, and still took the groupon on the other painting. I came back to her and she is doing three more jobs for me, one each month so I can afford them! I won't be dropping in until she says they are done, and I did enjoy her friendlness.”
