Summary: Purchased luxury car rental through Priceline and verified the deal with Dollar directly. I encountered a series of unfulfilled promises and unsatisfactory services from Dollar Rental Car in Utah. Despite multiple confirmations regarding the type of vehicle, I ended up with a low-end car that was not only poorly maintained but also came with unexpected and excessive additional fees.Pros:- Charming Service at the CounterCons:- Exorbitant and Hidden Additional Fees: I paid in full, including fees, during the initial online purchase. When I arrived to pick up my car there were additional fees that more than doubled the cost of the car.- Misleading Information from Phone Representatives and Website: The phone representatives made several false promises, ranging from minor (like complimentary child seats that would be waiting for me) to significant assurances about the car category.- Unhygienic Child Seats: The child seats in the cage near the car were not only low-end but also unclean, with some reeking of vomit and having malfunctioning belts. The price to rent those seats was absurd, higher even than buying better seats new.- Car Category Not Honored: Despite paying for a luxury car, I was presented with the choice of either downgrading or paying extra for a different vehicle. This is despite being promised that I would be given a free upgrade if the car was not available, and that the reservation guaranteed a specific set of models.- Poorly Maintained Vehicle: The car had various maintenance issues, including some very obvious ones, detracting from the overall rental experience.Conclusion: My experience with Dollar Rental Car in Utah was far from satisfactory. The gap between what was promised and what was delivered, coupled with the poor condition of the vehicle and hidden costs, made this an extremely frustrating experience. It's disheartening to encounter such a lack of integrity and customer service.(This review has been edited to correct a spelling mistake)

We reserved a car 2 months in advance and specified a pick up at 1030 pm from the local airport. They approved the reservation and took our money without ever specifying a closing time. We get there and see that they are close. We try calling and they have the nerve to ask us to come back at 0600 am and refuse to refund our money or find us any accommodation!On what ground am I being fairly treated here if the time and date of my pick up is not respected form your end ?And now we have to figure out a transit situation with two kids in the middle of the night in a city that is foreign to us!I don’t recommend using their service , they obviously don’t value their customers and have a questionable business ethic!

Ridiculously bad service. Had a reservation. Waited in line for an hour (8 service desks, staffed by 2 employees). Finally got to the agent who said they didn't have the economy size. Rather than honoring our reservation and offering us what they had available, they told us to wait 2 hours for a car to be available, or pay the higher cost for the car they had in stock. How is this acceptable?

Dollar rental car made me late to a wedding. I was flying into town and had plenty of time from when flight landed to make the wedding. Turns out Dollar rental was here to screw that up. They did not have any vehicles in the class I had rented within 2 hours of my rental time. What did they do? Literally nothing. Their staff was incompetent. They had plenty of rental cars in other classes and instead of making it right by getting me in a car to meet my timeline because they could not honor the request, they were unwilling to waive a rental fee. Their position: you should miss your wedding event and wait for 2 hours for us. Any sane customer service oriented company would have said we don't have a car in your class, here's another one no charge. Not Dollar. They said you can only have a an upgrade if you pay for it. I needed to make my once in a lifetime event so I had really no other option than to move forward and attempt to deal with them after my wedding events.DO NOT RENT with them. They are an awful company with no consideration for customers. They penalize customers FOR THEIR FAILURES to provide vehicles.

The most conveniently located rental car place … destroyed by the longest line.Waited in line 1 hour 36 minutes to get a slip for a car. Hard floor. Sore back. Pain.Customer service is friendly enough. Too few attendants!!!!!

My biggest concern is with the security deposit. When I first heard Dollar car rental would allow rental with a debit card. I was pleased. In the last few years something must have happened because in order to use a debit card, it's a 500 dollar security deposit and apparently they run your credit. The only way to bypass that is to use a credit card.Other than that, I've had no issues with the rental thus far. Nice car, decent customer service.

I already had a Camery for my stay in Salt Lake and my flight home was canceled. I wanted to drive the car back to Maryland, which would have been 2 more days rental. Alex, the manager quoted a cost over $1100. I went next door, to Avis and got a Suburban, for $340.

I rented a car from SAC only to receive a smoked filled and not fully fueled rental. Contacted CS next morning only to find that I had to return to SAC as there was no other location which was more than an hour away. Returned rental met directly with Manager who apologized and stated she would issue me a FULL REFUND and no additional charges would be incurred for the 22 hours of my rental.Returned home within 72 hours only to receive an invoice for the FULL AMOUNT of $557.00 the rental I had returned. Call CS four times in Jamaica to discuss the issues with the rental. CS is the PROBLEM. CS took detailed notes stating the Manager would approve return to issue credit. Once I received $557.00 invoice I called CS only to learn there was no record of my return or calls.BEWARE as a customer you are not able to speak with any local office. You can only call CS in Jamaica who have repeatedly been incompetent and OVERCHARGED me even if I had kept the rental.I filed a complaint with the Attorney General and issued a credit card dispute. Dollar Car Rental once again showed I had rented the car with no return or credit on the credit card dispute. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE after all my calls to CS, meeting with the SAC Manager, and providing all my documentation that this continues to occur. NO CUSTOMER SHOULD BE TREATED in this fashion and be so alarmingly OVERCHARGED.I sent an email to the CEO. Then my complaint was properly resolved. I was credited in full. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS or RECOMMEND ANYONE DO BUSINESS with Dollar Car Rental.

We reserved a car for pickup at 11:30am. We waited in line to get to the counter for almost two hours. There were three ladies at the counter to deal with the hoards of people waiting for service. When we got to the counter, they told us that we would have to wait 2 hours to get our vehicle. The lady at the counter said that the Dollar website overbooked cars for that day. She was unable to offer us any compensation for this four hour inconvenience, so we called the customer service line and they were completely not helpful - they offered $50 off a future Dollar car rental. I definitely will not be booking with Dollar again.

Wipers were badWarped brake rotorOut of balance tires at 70mpWasher fluid low, had to add to keep sensor from buzzing.This was an upgraded vehicle because the reserved car was not ready at reservation time. No AAA discount on upcharge, only original car.

I was afraid because of the negative comments here on Google but I had a great experience. In 10 minutes I was able to get my car - it was perfectly clean and we drove 700 miles without any problems. I guess mistakes happens with any company but I would totally rent again with Dollar. Just be mindful that it’s way more expensive at the airport then renting a car in Downtown or something- just because of the airport fees. Returning the car took even less time.

28 people in line when I showed up. 90 minutes to get to the counter. When they offered me a 15-passenger van as the Manager’s Special, I started crying. They then offered me a normal size vehicle with the up charge. Seems to me that if I’ve waited in line 90 minutes and been forced to cancel two appointments that I missed because of the delay, Dollar could waive the up charge fee. When I got a survey over email and typed all this out, they just replied that they were aware of the issue. No refund. Nothing. I will never rent from them again. And don’t think it’ll be any different for you.

Almost canceled and went with another provider after reading all of the horrible reviews here.Our experience was very good. No line. Attendant at the desk was personable. Car was ready in 50 minutes as she promised. Car was cleaner than other rentals I’ve had and runs great.

Dollar rental had very good cars for us. their support staff, one very courteous and informative. We got a good car and the staff members were really helpful and courteous.

Beware of their false advertisement. We reserved online and only had a balance of $133.11 however upon check in we were told the balance was $434.14. Even though our insurance covers rentals, were had to pay for their "optional" insurance which was $263.88. Which should have been a total of $396.99....where did the extra $37.15 come from? It's not accounted for at all on the receipt. They advertise good deals online, but charge way more than that. On top of that, the car had a tire with a leak so we had to put air in it every other day. The windshield wipers were old so they just smeared everything. The alignment clearly needed to be done because the car vibrated every time we were on the freeway. Instead of making repairs, the over inflated some of the tires to try to "balance" it out. They are more expensive and have crappier cars than other rental agencies where you get charged the online price only and have vehicles that are maintained.
