Been going to 85deg bakery for years when I lived in other cities. The prices have definitely gone up which makes it hard to keep coming back. Prices for thier buns at this SLC location are more expensive than the California and Nevada locations.

Absolutely scrumptious treats, but seriously the staff is nothing more than a bunch of mindless teenage robots! God forbid you ask one of them a question. They’ll either not even look at you or just point your question to someone else, but you’ll never get an answer.

Every time I go here, I think, "Why is everything so good?" But no, seriously! If you aren't a pastry person, you are now. YUM!

This store was awesome when I tried it in LA. Can't remember if I visited when I lived in Taiwan or not. Here I've tried bubble tea, egg tarts, the mango cake, and the cookies & cream mousse. All were great. I especially liked the egg tarts. The only thing I'm sad about is: after 14 years it seems that Moon Bakery next door is out of business. I suspect that they couldn't compete now that we have a lot more options in Utah. I preferred their roll cake to 85c. But luckily I have started to learn to make roll cake at home.

This bakery makes me so happy. ♥️Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space so kids aren't bumping into people while going through the line. Also a lot of seating is available, which is great for families in general.

Some breads are decent like the matcha choco-cream bun or any sort of sweet cream. I enjoyed the pineapple cakes. Other items are very greasy and weirdly, lack flavor like the cheese/bacon bread. I’ve tried a few slices of cakes, they aren’t very sweet, but also not flavorful. Like a coffee slice doesn’t taste like coffee, just bland. For the price, it’s good value but not satisfying to the palate. Knowing it’s a huge franchise, I imagine some items are baked fresh but shipped to them pre-made or frozen.

My Wife has been begging to go here since she heard about how amazing the pastries were and yes... they did not disappoint. The comments are true! Come here for very affordable, FRESH pastries/ desserts. The seem to keep restocking , at least they were doing that to some while we were there. Not a big line when we went and it was a Friday afternoon. We got a handful of items and we slowly ate them in the next couple of days. Our family really liked all of our choices! However I don't think there could have been a "bad choice" from what I can tell!

It is not the first time I have purchased the service, it is always very disappointing, the people who serve are very rude.

My fellow yelper friend has been raving about this place and has been telling me to go and I finally went. OMG... if only this was closer to the area I live!! I would be there at least once a week to stalk up on these fresh pastries! Located in the "Chinatown" strip mall --'ext to the giant Asian grocery store and several little eateries. We bought about 9 different items. We only didn't like one but it wasn't so bad. It just probably needed to be eaten the same day and we did not. Omg, it was so hard for me to choose! We went on a Friday and it wasn't as busy as I was worried it would be and the selection was still plentiful, I saw a woman restocking some of them while we chose. We took our pastries home since we also decided to try a couple of the other food places for lunch that day. We slowly savored each pastry to try as a family... we ate about 2 a day. It was such a challenge for me not to just break into all of them in one day! But they kept well, I kept them in their individual wrappers and put them in a plastic container with a lid. And yes... get the Egg Tarts!!! I regret not getting more of those! Omg!! Trust me-- GET!

I bought a Ube cream cake yesterday for a birthday. The amount of fruit and decor on the cake was half as much as on the photo. The photo on the wedsite looks SO much prettier than the actual cake. Be aware!

I actually come here more than I would like to admit, to the point where some called me a regular, and my girlfriend and I are amongst one of the top visitors on Yelp. However, I would say, the reason I am giving this a 1 star review is because, every time I've gone in the passed month, the customer service has become worst, and the drinks have become sloppier with their Vietnamese coffee no longer tasting the same.Today, I had ordered a Vietnamese coffee and decided to buy groceries next door. I had accidentally dropped my coffee to the point where only the straw touched the ground and the cup had a crack on the top. I decided to go back to see if I could possibly have another straw and maybe a new cup but after a long interaction with the staff I was asked, if the cup falling down was their fault? I had answered no, it was my fault, I just want to know if I can get a new straw or cup. I was told since it wasn't the staffs fault that they couldn't do anything. Instead, I had to purchase a whole other Vietnamese coffee for a new straw. I ended up not buying a new coffee, I had to talk to someone else to see if I could get a new straw and the barista in the back was kind enough to hand a new straw. During the process, the same woman came back out from the back to double check if the barista wasn't making me a new drink.I think this is a little ridiculous, in fact, I can't understand why a straw would cost $6 to begin with. The staff is constantly rude when there isn't any part of the ownership present in the bakery. In fact I've noticed the staff give hard time to a bunch of customers and provide a lot of attitude when asking for an extra straw or even spoons/forks when there aren't any available to grab.To give the benefit of the doubt there are still great people who work there, but I highly advise to only go on busy days like the weekend, because thats when the best of the staff work, who provide so much better customer service and don't try to ruin your day any chance they get.I hope this bakery can fix this issue, especially since they just had opened in the last few months.

Update: Now that they are not as new, they have been having trouble with keeping up with demand and cleanliness. Tables always seem to be sticky or have crumbs on them. I do believe that as a customer, you should clean after yourself as much as possible, but not everyone does it. So their should be an expectation of having the tables cleaned between customers like at other bakery cafes. The restroom also seems to be gross. Their is a men's and women's bathroom, but the men's are always locked. Therefore, men and women use one bathroom. This puts all restroom traffic in one stall, with less frequent cleanings in between. I suggest using the public restroom at the chinatown market. I would have to say that the biggest difference from opening to now is service. Cashiers and batista have became ruder. I am not expecting smiles or chipper banter. But if I'm asking for a different size straw or new cup because the one provided has a crack please just provide one. Instead I am being interrogated like I initially broke a cup or I choose the straw size. There has been other instances with receiving beverages where instead of helping I am being blamed or given dirty looks.
