26 Susie Wilson Road, Essex JunctionWe've been going to Bow Meow every 8-10 weeks for over 3 years to get our bernedoodle groomed. We initially went to Bow Meow because of Cindy specializing in poodles, and have stayed for the exceptional service and care that our dog receives. Cindy and her staff have consistently shown compassion to our shy dog by noticing his body language and taking it slow. Each time our dog is groomed to our specifications, smells amazing, ears cleaned, and nails are trimmed. Cindy has also given us brushing recommendations that has helped us prevent matted fur in between appointments. I highly recommend Bow Meow for the full service dog grooming, especially if you have a poodle/doodle!

Walk My Dog
5 Walden Woods, Essex JunctionI can’t recommend Walk my Dog enough. Our dog is not friendly with strangers or other dogs but Sam and his team are extremely experienced when it comes to working with challenging dogs. He is able to board her in his facility, even though she can’t be around other dogs. The peace of mind he provides is invaluable. His communication is above and beyond. We can go out of town knowing that our dog is safe, happy, and well cared for.

21 Essex Way Suite 201, Essex JunctionWe enjoyed an early dinner for my husband's birthday with two of our kids this week before a middle school band concert. We were excited to go out all together and spend our money locally in a place that we had only had the chance to visit once before but had been recommended by numerous local friends. The food was timely, was well prepared, and the staff was really kind and attentive.
My issues with this establishment and why I will not return anytime soon is because we don't find a 4% Kitchen Staff Appreciation Fee is appropriate. It's not our job to pay the kitchen staff. It's the owner's responsibility to provide a fair and appropriate compensation for their staff. Servers, bartenders, and general waitstaff are pigeonholed into a pay structure whereby gratuities are their incentive for providing exceptional service. This is part of the social contract this pay structure imposes. A mandatory Kitchen Staff Appreciation Fee is just an indicator of a business owner who simply isn't willing to pay their staff from the profit structure that is their cost of doing business. That's not our responsibility.
If you feel as though you need to highlight how great your kitchen staff is while also paying them what their worth is, make it an optional line item and encourage your waitstaff to share that option when they offer the check to a table. But sneaking that in with the hopes that your guests have seen that line at the bottom of your 4-page menu is poor form, especially given the increased costs we are all facing in our day to day life. It's hard enough to swallow businesses applying credit card processing fees on our transactions these days to cover their costs, but at least in those cases we have the option of paying in cash.
Is this the kind of place that truly values their employees by paying them what they are worth? Because those are the kinds of businesses I want to support...

70 Essex Way, Essex JunctionI have celiac disease which can sometimes leave you feeling left out, but not at the Lazy Goat Tavern. Leticia was our awesome server. When I asked which cider was the sweet one, she responded with the Hibiscus and Ginger but then also brought me a sample of the Black Cherry so I could decide for myself. Service above and beyond. We ordered the charcuterie board, which comes was a lavosh cracker. She brought the cracker on a separate plate for my husband AND brought me gluten free crackers (with help from the chef). I didn’t have to do without. That’s a rarity. I also had a bowl of the lovely tomato bisque. Eating out with celiac disease is always a risk, but I felt seen and heard. It was our 35th wedding anniversary. Thanks for making it memorable.

1 Commonwealth Avenue unit 201, Essex JunctionVisiting my childhood hometown from out of state and went for lunch with an old friend. The service was quick, kind, and very attentive, and took care with my numerous allergies. The food was good and I came back to try the flourless chocolate cake!
They had lots of food options for those with allergies, I wasn't limited to just a few!
The patio is nice but near a busy intersection. I preferred sitting inside to chat with my friend, but outside alone was fine.
