“The pharmacy will not fill prescriptions sent from the local hospital ER. They don’t tell you they won’t either unless you ask. This is absurd and can put patients in serious trouble. I don’t understand the rationale at all. Apparently he prescribing doctor has to call the pharmacy to give a rationale for why they are prescribing the medication. Yet if you call the ER, you’re told that the ER doctors are too busy to do this. Not okay! Update: I changed this from two stars to four. I had another issue today getting a prescribed medication that I’ve waited two weeks for. It appears that these issues are related to the insurance companies rather than the pharmacy. A staff person kindly helped me through this maze today. It was ridiculous. I wanted to get a medication I’ve used for almost thirty years. Medicare said they wouldn’t cover it and gave a list of three I had to try first. The first did nothing for me. The second is the one I’ve been waiting for. The pharmacy said insurance wouldn’t cover it although I have a letter from the insurance company saying I must try this one. It’s absurd. I eventually got it by paying out of pocket. I’m willing to do this for the Rx that works, but my pro,art doctor has to “follow the rules.””

“Six stars!! My wife was sent home on a Friday from rehab without the proper glucose tester and with almost no training on the insulin pen. Melissa to the rescue! Though it was already after hours at the doctors office, she was able to wrangle a prescription for a glucose meter and strips. Then she sat down with me and walked me through the insulin injection process. With that I was able to double check what my wife was doing. Without Melissa’s help it would have been a very difficult weekend. (I think that’s an understatement.)”
