Our meal at the Highland lodge was exceptional. The staff was so friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the food and cocktails were incredible! We can't wait to visit again!

I've been coming here for 45 years and it still reminds me of those early visits. They have some very creative cocktails, some flavor mixtures I've never seen before. Kale Caesar salad opener was wonderful. I had the steak frites which I upgraded to Steak Diane which was a perfect medium rare, and Diane was a delicious choice that I may order again tonight. Pauline had the seared chicken breast which was moist and flavorful. Finished with their classic Ishkabibble which is a now gluten free brownie (only identified as such from wait staff telling us with ice cream and homemade fudge sauce). I had it from my first visits and it's nice to see it's still in the menu. And you cannot beat this wonderful northeast kingdom caspian lake setting. Breakfast buffet was very nice. Very comfortable lodging and with my wife being handicapped, the Smith Suite was thoughtfully and unobtrusively made ADA and sealed the deal with us returning frequently. It made us among the most easy ADA accommodations we've encountered. If you like Vermont and you haven't stayed here, you are missing out.

I bikes 43 miles to get here on a blazing hot summer day. I was exhausted and sweaty to find there is no AC and no TV in my room. As the sun set, the temp dropped, and I was on the front porch overlooking the lake I was glad that there were neither of those things.

Great stay at the Highland Lodge! Enjoyed very nice breakfast, lovely bar and a great dinner. Margarita Monday and the music and taco truck were a great bonus. Lovely waterfront beach with lots of boats.

Staff, service and dining experience was wonderful. Drinks were excellent. Food was generally good. One burger was specifically ordered with cheddar cheese, but came with bleu cheese instead. No big deal though. Thanks for a great evening.

Food and service were excellent. Noise level was annoying. We also strongly recommend you offer dinner rolls or bread as a side. All four of us were disappointed in not being able to have that. Seems pretty basic to serving dinner.

Oustanding dining experience at Highland Lodge. We started with a glass of wine and beer from the very inviting and cozy bar and sat out on the porch in rocking chairs enjoying the amazing view of Caspian Lake before dinner. We sat down to dinner at on the porch and with that same view and had wonderful service by the staff. The set menu and specials were diverse and intriguing and we ended up having one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Highly recommend!

Very good food and service. We moved to the porch as the dining room was noisy with kids and family! Missed the lamb lollipops. Love the grilled Caesar, and wicked strong cocktail!

We recommend the Highland Lodge. The service was excellent. The food delicious. The noise level was too high in the main dining room, but tolerable in the bar where we ate and were very happy. If warm enough, eat outside on the wonderful big porch with a lovely view of Caspian Lake.

We love Highland Lodge and have always had excellent meals there. Last night, we both ordered lamb lollipops, one of our favorite dishes. Mine arrived nearly raw, and my partner's was significantly overdone. Our salads were excellent. We expected service to be leisurely, as it was busy, but the time lag between our first and second small plates was excruciating. The waiter had removed my partner's cutlery with the first plate and then brought the second without fork or knife. He had to go ask the bartender for assistance. Throughout dinner, at least four waiters drifted in and out of attending to our table, often asking a question that had just been asked by a previous waiter. The whole experience was unsettling— it was as though the place had been taken over by staff completely unfamiliar with the menu and set up for service. As we have had many fine meals there, we will return and hope that what happened last night was a never-to-be-repeated breakdown.

We requested an outdoor table, and were glad to find that outdoor seating was on a porch under a roof - perfect! The food was excellent! Each of the 4 of us ordered something different, and all 4 of us were very happy with our meals. And the place is charming, both the building and its setting. The indoor dining area was quite full, so it was probably noisier in there than it was out on the porch, as we were the only ones out there on a chilly evening. I appreciate the outdoor option because I no longer dine indoors due to extra COVID risk factors, and will go to restaurants ONLY if they offer outdoor seating.

Beautiful spot, friendly staff and ambiance. A relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed our drinks and beer from the local brewery. The salad was delicious as was the mushroom appetizer. Neither the pasta primavera or the risotto dish were very appealing to us but they were more than passable.
