“This has to be one of my favorite antique stores. Adele and Mara are knowledgeable and passionate about all the merchandise they have. We literally could’ve talked to them all day if we weren’t holding up the line for others to enter the store. They have quite the collection that is fairly priced as they’ve done the research on each item. I ended up purchasing the most beautiful set of silverware I’ve seen, and intend to come back at another date to buy the cutest tea strainer I’ve seen (fingers crossed it’s still there!)Also want to say thank you for not discriminating against us when we came in. This is one of the few antique stores where we were treated like normal people and not stalked around like we’re thieves just because of the color of our skin or treated lowly because we’re not super rich.”

“My puppy chewed a hole in a Pottery Barn wool rug. They repaired it and you’d never be able to find where it was damaged. They also cleaned it and it is bright and like new again.”

“I love this cute and quirky little shop hidden away in Hollin Hall. I go most Saturday mornings because the owner changes the inventory almost every week. I have found so many things I never expected to find there and I always enjoy learning from the owner about their history and uses. The prices are very reasonable and the owner encourages browsing and requests for items.”

“Love it. However, it isn't a place for a quick stop unless you know just what you are looking for. The best part is browsing, that mood of wanting to buy that something special, be it jewelry or an item of home decor either for yourself or someone important in your life. Rusty is knowledgeable and very interesting. If you ask him, he will guide you in the right direction. It is easy to find, just off of King Street, on Lafayette. It is too bad that the city made them take down the purple balloons.”

“MUST SEE. A fascinating, beautiful, elegant, intriguing collection of absolute treasures. We also found the owners to be kind, helpful, very knowledgeable and patient. Highly recommended treasure trove. Educational, also. So much to see and learn.”

“I had an antique sideboard from the 1830's that needed some repair work. Over time, the veneer had flaked and a baseboard had come loose. Robert not only did a fabulous job on the restoration but he was so easy to work with. Additionally, he taught me a lot about the piece and he reversed some work by previous "restorers" who had not done good work. Robert has made the piece so much more valuable and interesting to me. Plus, he is just one of the finest people I've met. Do please consider him for any transactions involving antiques: he is knowledgeable, reasonable, and an all-around good person.”

“We asked Gary to clean several old paintings my husbands grandmother had painted. They turned out beautiful and Gary even restored the old frames so they look great. We've had several items framed by Gary, always to our satisfaction. Gary is a historian and always fascinating to listen to.”

“Many treasures to be found in this shop! Jewelry, decorations, plates, glassware, music, and more. The aisles are narrow and can feel a little cluttered, but you never know what you'll find around the next corner.”

“Such a fun place to spend an afternoon! The gigantic space is lovingly curated and maintained, so there is never a shortage of things to look at but you won’t feel overwhelmed or get that “thrift store dirty” feeling. This place is a treasure trove and with Aslin next door, it’s the perfect weekend spot!”

“Wonderful find. This place has wonderful treasures in every corner. Chatree's restoration is fantastic. He restored my pieces that were family heir looms. You can't see where they broken at all.”

“Visiting from out of town and decided to walk King St and shop the boutiques. This place is filled with all kinds of items, perfect for gifting or for treating yourself. Everything from Declaration of Independence rocks/pint glasses to themed match boxes. Staff was so friendly, the store was clean and well stocked. There's a small clearance section. Some items are a bit pricey but there were price points as low as $4 and others on the higher end. When I went there was a clearance sale on Christmas items and I got these adorable Alice in Wonderland felt ornaments. Their self care/body section was filled with quality salts, lotions, soaps and serums. I spent a good 30 minutes shopping their small store so that I could enjoy everything they offer. If you're looking for something unique, local and quality, check them out!”

“I really like this store. They have many pre-owned beautiful items (furniture and art/décor) that are offered at much lower prices than which they were originally purchased. I don't expect the salespeople to be experts on all the furniture they sell because they are not the manufacturers of the furniture.”

“This is a great shop! They carry a wide range of vintage cocktail glassware and accoutrements. It's fun to browse for your own collection or for gifts. I highly recommend The Hour Shop!”

“A charming and quirky antique shop right off King Street in Old Town Alexandria. I always learn about something interesting and unusual every time I go in from the owner, Angela Silverman or her assistant, John. Whether it's a coffee grinder used by military officers, a portable holy water sprinkler for priests to use on sick visits, or a stunning antique diamond ring, there is sure to be something I enjoy seeing and learning about. Some items I looked at during today's visit were enamel snuffboxes with sayings on them, a diamond jockey stick pin, some beautiful Georg Jensen silver items, and a brass chandelier designed to use both oil and candles. My husband bought my art deco engagement ring at this shop more than fifteen years ago, and we always enjoy visiting (although most of the time we are just browsing.)”
