“It's a well-run store. Their website claimed they had some liquors that they didn't have in stock, which was disappointing to drive here only to be told that the website is incorrect. But other than that, nice people and knowledgeable about what they do carry. They also have sales from time to time, so good to check back and see if something you like is now less expensive”
“I’ve been coming to the brew shop since 2016 when I first moved down to the D.C. area for work.
If there is any place to go for beer in Arlington it’s this place. They always have the best selection and their staff is super helpful.
Also, special shout out to Shay who works at the Brew Shop! Shay is the single most knowledgeable person about beer I have ever met - in my entire life. He is a living, breathing encyclopedia of beer and his recommendations never fail to disappoint!”

“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Amos who is currently employed at Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits. Amos provides excellent customer service with his polite and patient demeanor. He excels at matching a client’s budget with a choice of wine and champagne appropriate to the occasion. My daughter, Airlie, and her husband, Nicholas, from Chamonix, France, as well as her mother-in-law, were extremely impressed with his knowledge of champagne from the region, while still offering competitive price ranges. Hands down, Amos is my go-to person for a variety of social occasions!”
“Simply the best wine store in the DMV! Great prices, a knowledgeable staff that doesn’t try to oversell, and the best selection I’ve seen in the area. I’ve been to many, but I always find myself coming back here.”
“I recently visited Norm's Beer and Wine in Vienna, and I was thoroughly impressed. They have an exceptional selection of both beer and wine – truly a paradise for anyone who enjoys quality drinks. What really stood out to me was their availability of hard-to-find and limited-release beers – something you rarely see even at specialty stores.
The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They were more than happy to offer recommendations without any pressure, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Norm’s is a hidden gem that every beer and wine lover in Northern Virginia should check out.
Highly recommended!”
“We ordered alcohol for our wedding through Ace, and they were incredibly easy to work with. They were responsive and helpful as we decided on our order, and both drop-off and pick-up were seamless. On top of all that, their pricing was very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend Ace for weddings or any large events!”
“Very nice, relaxing atmosphere. The staff was knowledgeable of the selection of wines, and the restaurant attached was quaint and intimate. Great place to go for date night or a night on the town.”
“First time there, Raymond from the wine section was tremendously helpful, i had a ton of stuff to bring to the car and he went out of his way to help me out. Much appreciated.”
“Amazing selection of every wine you could think of. We had looked up a few wines, and it told us where they were in the store, so we did not have much interaction with staff....except for the cashier who was just the sweetest person in the few minutes of checkout.”
“Love this place! Great selection, and the staff is really knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. You really develop a relationship with them. They get to know what you like and can introduce you to new things!”
“As someone who has been curating a bourbon collection for years, I can confidently say that Potomac Wines and Spirits is one of the best retailers in the region for hard-to-find and limited-release bourbons. Their selection demonstrates a deep understanding of what bourbon aficionados are searching for.
The staff is equally impressive, they’re not only knowledgeable but also well-connected in the world of fine spirits, making them an invaluable resource for those hunting for the next addition to their collection. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or just beginning your journey into premium bourbons, Potomac Wines and Spirits should be at the top of your list.”
“Just an hour ago, I had the pleasure of presenting wines at Verified Wines and Fine Spirits and was genuinely impressed by the experience. The community here, led by Max and his dedicated team, is incredibly welcoming — it's like being part of a family. Sharing the exquisite Salton Wines from Brazil with such enthusiastic customers on a lively Tuesday evening was a delight. The shop's pet-friendly environment adds to the charm, making it feel like a slice of wine country right here in DC. A big thank you for the wonderful experience – I'm already excited for the opportunity to come back and share more wonderful wines. And to whoever is reading this review and feeling my excitement, here are the pictures I took to document the whole experience. I will cherish this day forever!”
“Like Billy Joel says
You wanna go where they remember your name.
It’s a local place whose owner has a serious passion for wine since his early 20s
involved with our community
And is knowledgeable about his product .
Why would you want to get anywhere else?”
“I’d been trying to arrange a cheese and wine birthday basket for our daughter and was lucky to have Jon help me. He made great suggestions for items I wouldn’t have considered and made the present special. Their wine and cheese selections are broad and everyone who works there is always helpful and nice to work with. Great place to get advice on wine and cheese selections!”
“me and my mom will come here for what i call 'fort belvoir fridays' it is always such a good time i get excited seeing the base (the military was tough at times but i always made it through and i definitely think it improved my life one quote that has stuck with me so much is colin powell 'No matter how hungry you all are, lieutenant, you must never appear hungry. No matter how terrified you are, lieutenant, you must never look terrified. Because if you are scared, tried, hungry and cold…. they will be scared, tired, hungry and cold." i really feel for people on that one when i was in the signal corps doing morning formations) and i have a deep appreciation for the military as well to think of soldiers standing up for the country values or the fun side too being overseas living in germany or hearing of people getting korea as their duty station i have somewhat of a understanding for the lifestyle (i sympathize when i see people who look like they are hanging on to their job and where they live or think it's cool when i see the longterm personnel who adapt to that way of living pt the unit many years of commitment and even 'indoctrination' where too mil and affiliates can solve all my problems) um one thing that'll be real cool here is when we look around we'll also see other guests and i'll be reminded of like being in tradoc and getting your civilians or nco's and being stationed somewhere else it was georgia & germany mostly for me ft meade too the cashiers here have been phenomenal with their professionalism and demeanor a guy like a statue i'll definitely daydream about stuff like the hot gas station food or when i was in the barracks so this will be a pitstop i had mused about meeting people (i am pretty anchored here and thought i could be useful but then again i am a veteran and out) but heard warnings about that or also not wanting complaints for example”
“I can only speak to the craft beer portion. But because they're part of the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, they receive some truly rare beers that not even the best beer shops can get their hands on! Prices are fair. Staff is very knowledgeable.Recommendation is to open up more of their selection to both The Front Porch and Evening Star Cafe”
“Legit ABC store!Walked in, was greeted quickly, and bounced ideas off the staffer. Ended up with a glorious bottle, and threw it in my bag like a hobo. Credit accepted. Easy parking, though not a lot. There's more parking at the shopping center next door.”
“A big THANK YOU to everyone at Arrowine for a seamless online holiday ordering experience. And special thanks to Mr. Hassen for helping me choose some excellent wines this morning for a dinner party (and as an aside, kudos for his deft handling of a rather unprofessional customer). Five stars for quality and service.”
“Excellent service via phone. Happily Van Ness Wines does *not* participate in the cartel of DC-area liquor stores which all share the same website, same minimum order and same delivery fee. Go Van Ness -- thanks for reasonable prices and great service! Call in the DOJ and FTC for the others :)”
“Really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff! I always walk out of here with more than I intended (a good thing) and that is because the folks here are able to make so many good suggestions based on my tastes!
Though I do recommend coming for the wine selection, which is expertly curated, they do have a sundry of charcuterie items, a well stocked cheese case and they partner with a local sausage company.
It's just a really nice neighborhood wine shop offering unique finds in a friendly and approachable atmosphere!”
“17Aug.2022..I was here last yr and no idea why Google maps doesn’t have my review up here. Anyway Class VI is completely stocked at all times and always having some up-to-date new spirits in stock. Absolutely love, love, love this spot for all of my snacks and spirits purchases.”
“I don't get the negative reviews...I'm from Detroit with 1am party stores every 2 miles and bullet proof glass or disgusting filth ...be glad for clean self serve ABC locations and decent closing hours to keep alcohol abuse disorders from late evening purchases”

“I don’t know a lot about wine but wanted to bring something to a party that would make it seem like I did. :)The staff was SO friendly and knowledgeable and walked me through many unique options at all price ranges.I’ve been other places that look down on you if you don’t speak “wine language” My experience at Unwined was completely opposite of that! I got the best recommendations really enjoyed my shopping experience there.I felt confident about the selections I brought to the party and also picked up some fantastic craft beers and some gourmet foods to try.I will definitely be back! This is a great place to run into if you need to grab a gift for someone as well.”

“They are also quick to greet you when you walk in the door! Very friendly staff that are always able to help with reccommendations or just to talk while checking out. Always clean and well lit. Great selection as well. Anything you may be looking for to make drinks will be there!”
“It's still five stars here, and they also opened the nearby Sara's Market. Love them both. But now the "food desert" aspects of Georgetown have improved since my previous review. We got our Whole Foods back (although it is mechanized, so the ambience sucks), and Trader Joe's opened, as did Wegman's and Streets. So there is competition, definitely, but this little corner shop still has my heart.”
“They are the only store in the DMV area (within my 40 mile radius) that carries the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that I like, ALOT! I will always stock up when I go. They also carry great reds and rosé's. AND they have fabulous tasting events.”
“Stopped in this afternoon after reading the sandwich reviews. So many shops get subs wrong and they rocked it. Thin sliced turkey, the right amount of mayo, a nice sharp provolone and a soft roll with the right amount of chew. Anytime a liquor store dedicates floor space for a deli you know the sandwiches are gonna be great. This place did not disappoint. I'll be back for sure.”
“Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. It says “thoughtfully curated by your neighborhood wine guy” on the window. This sums it up. They have a very unique selection of interesting and fun wines, as well as some staples. Their sake selection is impressive as well.”

“Jason Yim, Pharmacy Manager at Harris Teeter Store 308 in Vienna, Virginia, is really knowledgeable and down to earth. He is one of the best pharmacists in the DC area. Really cares about the customers. His team is fantastic. Highly recommended.”
“I go to this store a few times a year (when I am I. The area) and I am always greeted and welcomed to the store with a smile. Helpful staff and some good deals to be had throughout the entire store. This store us great for a quick trip or if you need to grab a few things for a party or your personal bar. This store is also located in a great area.”
