“Great place to have colors mixed, they know all types of paint and can tint anything. I especially come here for venetian plaster since they're the only place in NOVA who carries it.”
“I would give Tehyana and Jamie 5 stars any day. They were so helpful and understanding of our situation.
However, on our first visit to this store we were assisted by an employee who apparently was the manager. To say he wasn’t helpful would be an understatement.
I brought a small sample of the wall we were trying to touch up to see if he could color match it. He proceeded to ask me what kind of paint I wanted to which I replied what do you suggest in this type of scenario? We were hopeful that he would provide an adequate recommendation, seeing as how he is a subject matter expert at this. Unfortunately, all he said was “I dont know” and chose the type for us. Once our paint was ready, he didn’t even bother to show us that the color matched which I thought it was weird. We went to get some brushes and rollers and when we were ready to check out we stood at the register for a good 30 seconds before he even noticed us, since he was too busy on his phone. No receipt was provided, which I know I should have asked.
Back at our place, we realized that the paint we had bought was no where close to what we wanted. It actually was the wrong type and the color was way off. We decided to go back to the same store since it was the only one open and that is when Tehyana and Jamie came through. Not only were they helpful and attentive, but they were also able to provide the paint at no cost once we explained to them what had happened earlier. Again, the comparison between the two visits and how we were treated was out of this world.”
“My experience with Ace Hardware is solely from where I grew up in CT. This is a lot different, in a better way (I guess that’s a subjective thought). I was “used to” an unorganized place full of actual hardware from a-z as well as a lot of indoor/outdoor paint and a paint mixer. In short, I was used to Ace hardware being targeted at real handymen in the midst of a project and in need or something very specific. This store is like “a little of everything” for every part of your apartment. It’s walkable from a lot of apartments around here, and it sells all sorts of things you might need in your apartment (you don’t need to be a handyman or hardcore DIY-er to find a bunch of useful things). A huge variety of things you might need in a pinch. Granted, most are really overpriced, but I wouldn’t complain because it’s all about convenience and location. If you complain about the prices, go ahead and drive into Virginia, lose an hour of your day and walk up and down a huge store. Overall, the convenience and variety in this store is worth slightly higher prices. Nice people, as well.”
