  2. True Value On 17th - 1623 17th St NW

    1623 17th St NW, Washington DC 20009

    4.8 Superb 163 reviews

“Really can't say enough good things about this place. It's so important to have a good hardware store in your neighborhood, and having this just a few blocks away is amazing. The store is staffed exclusively with amazingly helpful staff who can answer any question you bring, and will take you right to the exact spot in the store you need. I've wandered in here with many different minor problems over the years and I've walked out with a solution every time. They're also incredible easy able returns, so if one of a few options might fix your issue, you can just buy them all and make a decision when you get home, then just pop back and return what you didn't need. It is easy to approach projects with confidence when I start here! It's also always worth it to pop over to the housewares side of the store - there's always something up there you end up needing and you can even grab some essentials from a local place instead of CVS up the street.”

    4.6 Superb 123 reviews

“I recently revisited after moving away a couple of years ago and had forgotten how much I love the Glover Park Ace. From the outside and when you first walk in, it looks like it's going to be small with limited products, but it's surprisingly large considering its location on Wisconsin. They've used every inch of the space to stock a wide selection of products while keeping it well organized and tidy. I do a lot of home maintenance and home improvement projects and the staff here are awesome - super friendly and always nearby and ready to help.”

“I went to the Sherwin-Williams store on Connecticut Avenue for new paint, but the service went way beyond the sale. After helping me with my purchase, Douglas and another associate took the time to advise me on how to use some 5-gallon buckets I had left over from a contractor. They even offered to re-shake the old buckets to make sure they were still good to use. Truly friendly, honest service that saved me time and money. This is my go-to paint store now.”

“Very clean store and plenty of staff. Dedicated parking right in front. I spoke with Stephen on the phone this morning and he pulled the paint and mixed it while taking my CC info and looking for a coupon for me! This isn’t the store closest to me, but I might go back for my big spring project in May because the staff seems on point.”

“The salesman was very helpful in helping me locate necessary equipment to paint my apartment. The manager carefully changed the colors of two cans of paint that I had bought weeks earlier instead of charging me for new cans based on my change of mind. It took him some time, but I was not charged. The products were as satisfactory as the excellent service.”

  15. Sherwin-Williams Commercial Paint Store - 1120 3rd St NE

    1120 3rd St NE, Washington DC 20002

    3.7 Good 42 reviews

“I have chosen Sherwin Williams primarily due to the exceptional team and outstanding customer service they provide. Ever since I established ADC Construction here in DC, I have been relying on SW for my business needs. They have been instrumental in assisting me with numerous projects, especially when it comes to sourcing special paints that may be difficult to find on my own. Previously, I used to visit the Franklin St store, where I first had the pleasure of meeting George. George's presence truly set the standard for the level of service I have come to appreciate from SW. When George transferred to the store near H St, I made the decision to relocate my business to this location as well. Compared to my past experiences at this particular store, which were not always satisfactory, I have noticed a significant improvement in service and overall experience with George at the helm. I am eager to witness the continuous growth and enhancement of this store as I continue to be a loyal customer.”

Sammy and Rico provided exceptional assistance that went way beyond standard customer service—they truly delivered 'golden customer service.' Both of them were incredibly kind, attentive, and highly professional throughout my entire visit. They went completely out of their way to ensure I had exactly what I needed. Employees this dedicated and helpful are rare to find, and I strongly request a raise for both of them! Management is lucky to have them on the team, and I will definitely be returning because of their outstanding care. Gracias! Thank you!”

“If you think a bout it, it's really the only place you should buy paint. They're the best equipped to see you through on new projects & the best suited to help you find the colors that you've used and forgot name of. The staff is twice as knowledgeable about the products by default. They're literally built for this.”
