This thrift store is the real deal! Get your comfy shoes out because you should take the time to hunt through this place! Variety abounds! It was a thrifters’ store! You can easily spend hours in this store hunting through everything. I love that it is a nonprofit, and that the prices are fair. The staff and kind and helpful.

Donation experience...
I suppose they treat it as a convenience to ME for allowing me to donate things.
I asked to keep my totes and boxes as I had more things to pack up and bring.
The older tattooed lady acted like it was the end of the earth, sighing loudly and throwing her head back.
Not cool man.. not cool.
Dumpster it is I guess.

I do lots of thrift store shopping in the Hampton roads area of Virginia and was very glad I found this thrift store in Blacksburg. Very well laid out and the selection of goods and prices were excellent.

I have loved shopping here for years but I love even more so how easy they make it to drop off donation. The older lady that works at donation is always so friendly and helpful when I need help dropping off items.

I have been coming here for years and it has always been a great place to shop, so I have to say I was disappointed to see some changes not for the better. First of all, I want to say it's not all bad. They still have a large assortment of dishes and kitchenware, though the offerings don't seem as nice as I remember, no doubt it changes from week to week. They still have a section for vinyl records, and a much better book section than you will ever see at a Goodwill. That being said, here are my complaints. All of the furniture here used to be reasonably priced in a manner that you expect from a THRIFT store. Not anymore. You may find lower prices for worn out old chairs, but be prepared for anything decent to be priced in the hundreds of dollars. Secondly, appliances and lamps used to be labeled with whether it works or not. That is no longer the case. Third, prices on miscellaneous items range from great to ridiculous. Today they were asking $25 for a used plastic clothes iron and the exact same small plastic trashcan that I purchased the other day at Walmart for $0.98, was being sold here used, dirty, and scuffed, yet they were asking $3.00 for it. I can only assume the owners do not care about helping low-income and needy members of the community to afford household items, and are instead only catering to students and bargain hunters who don't have to worry too much about their pocketbooks. I will still support the business here, because it is still an important part of the community with good things to offer, and because I can afford to. However, I really hope to see some improvements and I hope that the Blacksburg community as a whole will pressure the owners to make furniture and household items more accessible to low-income individuals once more.

Rude and slow staff. Seem more eager to waste your time than provide a decent service

?Save money, students! You are going to need it very, very soon. Like, desperately so even!?Rule #1 for purchasing anything: Do I need it?Rule #2: What is biggest bang for my limited bucks?Answer both correctly by coming into this (and, yes, every) thrifty secondhand store to get what you need at much, much lower costs than New In Box. — Everything here is quality, good condition, and will save you valuable time & money. {Especially Virginia Tech labeled items galore for a fraction of paying new! Cups, clothes, pins, hats, etc everything showing your school loyalty!}Save the planet also by buying secondhand!!! Using less resources. Avoiding landfills. Recycling again & again. [Read up to get the latest on all that!]**Say hello to Mr. Ya-Ya at the cashier’s counter! ?? ??**Good luck this school year, students! ??????

The good: Excellent book selection. Bag sale once a month. The bad: Ludicrous and arbitrary prices, junky, disorganized, no changing rooms, no bathroom, no returns. Like an overpriced yard sale.

Scheduled a pick up a week in advance. Called and confirmed the day before the pickup then called 30 minutes before the pickup to state they couldn't pick it up and didn't know when they could. Now other reason given..my theory is because they knew it was alot of stuff and just pure laziness and didn't want to do it. Unexcuseable considering the items are free. Would not choose for donations.

I was very disappointed on a recent trip to Blacksburg, VA to see that the YMCA Thrift Store had so seriously declined in appearance and items available for sale. The store is filthy. I couldn't even venture a guess as to when the floors were last mopped. The bathrooms are closed to the public which I assume is because they are also not being taken care of. Do not even waste your time or risk your health going in the door of this deteriorated business. What's sad is that this used to be a super vibrant thrift store full of treasures and low cost home items to help students, and always clean...when managed by Gail B. What is a shame is that this store exists to generate income for student service projects, which it used to do very well. Now I doubt if they pay the rent with store income. And the loss of all the fabulous community classes and events that used to be held here, is a significant loss. Time for a drastic change to bring this thrift store back to life! Addition: In regards to the owner's cut and paste response about programs provided, just think what could be accomplished for the community if this thrift store was returned to its once vibrant state! Let's make this happen!

I love this place dearly, but why they decided to raise prices in an economic crisis is beyond me. In a town where the wealthier college students drop off nicer medium to high end items at this location, shouldn't mean flipping those items at an inflated rate. Lower the costs on some of those times being price gouged, some people can't afford a box fan at $15 for 90° days.

I always like poking around in here. The Goodwills have much more clothing, but I've always found nice glassware, tennis rackets, picture frames, etc.
